Welcome to 2005.....

Depends on what freguency you are using...prolly 802.11b.

In that case, would mostly depend on the materials the signal will be passing though....

You have been to my house....and my wireless router is downstairs....I can walk upstairs to my bedroom, garage, kitchen, etc....without losing signal...if that helps..... 8)

Make sure to change the default security settings. That is bar far the easiest "security" issue out therefor wireless.

If you are refferring to the security settings within IE....I fail to see how that will allow him to stretch his distance....he is soley limited by signal strenght...am I missing something?? 8)

Change the security setting on your wireless router itself. Most of these routers have their own admin settings where you can change a bunch of stuff. (password protected too)

The easy part is that you pretty much just type in the IP address (in IE) of your router, add password and you are in.

Which model W/S router do you have? (I'm more familar with the linksys one but its the basicaly the same security changes to all Wireless routers.

Its been a few months since I made the changes in my router..I'll post shortly on the exact changes you should make. (if you want)

Edit:
Try to make these security settings in the router settings. (it won't effect xbox or any other networking you are doing, BUT will help protect you from the casual hacker)

Disable SSID broadcast
Enable the MAC filter
Use WEP (optional)
Change your passwords fairly often (you never know when RallyEX might be around to hog bandwidth....sorry couldn't help it buddy :P
FYI: never use default setting on anything :)

good Luck!
