File share on movfast..try grouper!

Its file sharing made for SMALL groups . It also has built in IM too which we have done a little.

our official group is : movfast.com
You need an invite in order to join.

Please post your e-mail address here (as others have done) so we can invite you in IF you are a movfast.com member.

Tips:


-Right click on the grouper logo in upper left and pull down to tools-options. Go to advanced and change download upload speed to something higher than 14....mine is at 100. (thanks Adam for finding that)

-In order for you to share a folder, you can NOT just drop it into a shared folder like one would do in a Win networking environment. You have to tell grouper to share that folder individually. (unless there's an option I'm not aware of yet) Just click share at the top and select the folder. I keep all my shared stuff on a "grouper movfast" folder then tell grouper to share that individual file again. (Thanks ramrod for finding that tip)

-In that option box, you can also change your nickname. I suggest you at least put part of your real name in it so people know who you are...may be easier to get invites that way....less unknowns.

-if you want to share MP3's thats fine BUT grouper can only stream music. (that is to help with RIAA standards etc..)
If you want to share a certain music file, (and its *cough* a song that your buddy *cough* already has) put that song or better yet the whole album in a ZIP file. Then the ZIP file can be DL'd without any probs. (from what I've *cough* heard)

-Even if you do not have much or anything to share, create an account so you can grab stuff of other people's puters.

I just read a great review on it.

I think most here have done this file sharing thing and it can be a real pain sometimes. However, if its just the movfasters this program might be the one to use.
It looks really easy and would make sharing those movfast "pictures and other files" quick.

Anyone want to try it???

Yea...uploads with Charter are limited to either 128 or 256....been a while since i have checked..... 8)

I looked into the options on Grouper and found that the upload settings are extremly low.....it was set @ 14k.

I changed it to 64k...see how that affects my net...if its to slow I will change it...but for now, while I am @ work what not...I donh't care.....

hmm, working fine for me. Make sure you delete all the groups except for movFast.com

Just use this group as the main. There should only be movFast.com in the "your groups" column. I've been able to DL files from everyone so far..helps when uplaod is greater than 14kbps:)

What's up with the double download. It's just like Quicktime/RealPlayer stuff. Download the install file that downloads the Application. I want the install file to INSTALL the APP not download some other prgram...
