Does anyone from our area still go up to these? I would like to do a couple again this summer.

For me at least, got tired of getting up even earlier, paying more money, gas, food, then staying late to help clean up for two minutes of drive time. It's still great fun, just circumstances are keeping me from doing it as often as I used to.

It starts at something like 10am or so now doesn't it?

They used to end tech at 10am, but that been years ago. Now its 9:30. While this wasn't particularly a problem they also jacked the price by $8 bucks and you have(had!?) to have a temporary SCCA membership ($15) to run the event. So you have an entry fee of $45 bucks for a standard event plus the cost of fuel (which rose from ~$2/gal to ~$3-4/gal) plus getting up early, cost of eating, getting home late and so on all for the joy of ~3-6 minutes of driving time.
So you drive ~200 miles, burn a tank of gas and get a whole 3-6 minutes of drive time. While fun, its not fun enough to do with any frequency and the cost is just not that exciting.
Most of us took up motorcycling and I decided to do IDPA shooting...it was cheaper :uhoh:

I didn't realize it had gotten that expensive. I guess it has been quite a few years since I have went with you guys.

FYI, here is our new pricing info:
"The price to enter any of our local events is $20 (per day)
The price to enter any of our "special" events is $25 (per day) for 2 day events you get a $5 discount if you pay for both days on Saturday.
The big change is that SCCA requires all drivers to be SCCA members for insurance coverage, so the SCCA offers "weekend" membership to non members for $15 per weekend.
The good news is that if one decides to join the SCCA with a full membership you can get credit for you first few weekend memberships... so if you paid 15 for a weekend then joined the SCCA you would have a $15 discount available when you join.
Special Note: All Formula Junior Drivers must be full SCCA Members to compete (Robbie correct me if I am wrong on this)"

Also, just to clarify, we are one of the few regions that offer at least 6 runs per event (sometime even 8); most regions just do 4 or 5 and that's all in one run group. We have morning runs and afternoon runs so you get to make changes to your car over lunch or your break and also get to relax a bit. I just wanted to make sure you knew this. I know things have been going up due to the national SCCA office raising prices on us. Our region pays $5 to the national office as a bonus for you so you don't have to , we are doing what we can to make your costs as low as we can.
I really hope to see some of you guys come down again this year, you have a great community and some great drivers!
Also, as an announcement, Davis Powers is working on another Parkersburg airport event which will be held on June 4th. Hope to see you there.
Also, we have a meeting tonight where we'll be finalizing the schedule and picking up a few dates for our new venue. Yes, we have a new lot, much bigger and smoother than Riverside, much better surface too! And it's 20 minutes closer for you guys! I'll keep you updated, please don't hesitate to ask any and all questions, call/email me anytime.
