Does anyone know where I could find a 4.5" stainless steel pipe that's 12" in length and a 90* elbow. I am trying to run the end of a muffler. ya knwo the big bomb tips well... in that wee car of mine i have to put it sideways. and i got a good deal on a muffler. soo if i could weld an elbow on to the end and bring it out from the end of hte car it would look as thought i had 4.5" pipe all the way I think it would look neat.

Pipe that large would be very difficult to bend over a short radius... most likely compound tapered cut rings that are welded together would work better... (just my 2 cents)

What muffler has a 4.5" inlet?

The muffler most likely does NOT have a 4.5" inlet. What I think this guy wants to do is mount his buzz-bomb muffler sideways, and then turn the outlet 90* to come out underneath the bumper.

And as a sidenote... nothing short of a MASSIVE Turbo setup on a completely built engine is really going to utilize 4.5"+ exhaust piping setup.

The 559.8HP Supra @ Hot Import Nights had 4" piping all the way through... but that things a fkin MONSTER.

Yeah...if you want it to look convincing, I'd say that 3.5" would be the absolute largest, and even then anyone with car knowledge will know it's not functional. That long of a piece of pipe in that much larger of a diameter than the rest of your exhaust would likely cause turbulence.

Correct.

On an N/a civic, 2.5" is as large as you want....most go with 2.25"....

So I would say 4.5" anywhere is a basic case of overkill.... 8)

That is correct. I know it wont look convincing, I'm not worried about convincing nayone i just want to get rid of the muffler on it now. and not get killed by fumes through the bottom of the hatch.

If that's what you want, then go for it.

I would get regular size piping and just get a tip, if you want to get rid of the muffler...

Be prepared for it to sound like TOTAL SH!T....

Buy a $15 glass pack and a tip and call it a day at least it will fit better.

it's got one of those "glass-packs" on it and i dont like the sound. I need a deeper tone, those glass-pakcs dont sound good when its at the end of the pipe, like on my car. I guess I'll look a little more on my own for the pipe and let ya know how it sounds when i get it on. Wouldnt it get me in trouble if i just remove the muffler? I think they'd be a little leary if you see it running around loud as crap and on that car you can tell there's no muffler. But, if it sounds good then I'd be all for it. Does anyone with a crx/civic know what it sounds like w/o the muffler?

civic/crx's sound like ass no matter what you do, unless you are putting the stock exhaust back on.

that's what I thought, but i took the muffler off of a friends metro. Just helping put a new OEM one on and it sounded awesome. It sounded like a harley with a nice exhaust. Buuuuttt I didnt know about the civic yet. ha ha I just thought i'd ask. Ive already got the muffler. I figured if i added about 12" to the exhaust it would only deepen the tone. Instead are you guys saying that it will sound worse??
