2005 AKA RALLY Route (http://www.akarally.com/route.php)
06.24.2005
Philadelphia

06.25.2005
Virginia Beach

06.26.2005
Atlanta

06.27.2005
Tampa

06.28.2005
Miami

06.29.2005
Key West (2 night stop)

If you actually want to enter, it's going to cost you $300 to pre-register and secure a spot, and an additional $2700 for a total of $3000. That 3G's gets you: Hotels, & Food 2x a Day... (http://www.akarally.com/about.php)

I'm planning on going, and I'll be prepping my car for hard driving, and stuff. I'm driving, Chris Rutherford is going to co-pilot/navigate. I'm *NOT* actually entering. I don't have 3000 for that. However I can save about 500 or 600 for gas & food over the course of the week, and I'm anticipating that Chris is going to chip in as well.

Since I road trip about 3 or 4 times a year (so far I have Toronto Canada, NYC NY, DC, Burlington VT, Rochester NY under my belt) this should be rather easy. I'm planning on lightening the rear of my car by yanking the back seats and other junk outta the back. After long consideration, I realize NO ONE rides in the back, so they're useless weight to me. I don't care about sound either.

I'll be replacing struts, shocks, A-arm bushings, swaybar links & bushings, and getting the rear diff rebuilt. I want to also add a rear tower link to brace the sides, and a front strut tower link as well. I plan on taking the car-puter & recording video via digi-cam to HDD & GPS route tracking, and taking 2 full size spares in the back. If I can score a Mini-DV I'll be filming with it, else I'll use my crappy VHS-C cam & tripod mount as well.

Anybody else wanna tag along? Which is what I'm doing I'm following the same course and just sort of playing follow the leader.

Personally I'm looking forward to heading through my old hometown in Homestead FL/Florida City FL since my parents moved us to Ohio after hurricane Andrew.

O-Ace from RacingFlix did it last year. There's at least one video from it on there. The one I remember was actually in West Virginia. I kept thinking it all looked familiar, then they passed a Morgantown sign lol.

If you register through RacingFlix it's $50 cheaper...but that doesn't really make it any more attainable.

Right but who says since it's on PUBLIC roads that you *have* to register.... why not do the rally @ a fraction of the cost and just chill @ cheaper hotels... and go clubbing... *shrugs* That's what I'm doing.

If I am going to any of those places I am going to stay a week not a day! 8)

lol...good idea. We should travel with the Gumball and just not pay lol. At least we wouldn't have all of those stickers on.

Yeah but you're not going to go to ALL of those places in a week. This can obviously be interpreted from your statement that you want to stay a week. That's fine an dandy Dave, I realize you just like most everyone else here on movFast.com aren't going to be attending this event with me. And that makes me sad. Enjoy the "mov" (mid-Ohio Valley).

I agree ShortysTRM, a lot of the stickers do look GHEY, there's about a dozen major sponsors every year and well they make you put all the stickers on your car. I want stickers on my car (partially for the look, partially to be able to promo people/brands/things I like).

If anyone's actually SERIOUS about this... get ahold of me via PM.

When I go on the AKA Rally I'll be taking all my "communications" equipment (scanner, 2 way, cb, cell, GPS yadda yadda) so yea I'd love it someone else other than me went... but the way things look now I'll be the only one going. hehe I might try to get *someone* to ride Shotgun/Navigator.. it'd almost be a shame to drive that far with an empty passenger seat... But it wouldn't be the first or last time.

So I take it I'm the only one that's remotely interested in this thing....?

On a side-note, anyone know where I can get a good Sony or Samsung Mini-DV cam for cheap? (with external mic & super night-shot)
