anyone willing to rip this to an AVI or something like that? If I had a Tivo, or cable, I'd be willing to rip & compress the video... I can never get enough rally / racing /drifting vids.... I just need more hard drives that's all hehe.

I'll have it on my Tivo for sure. Unfortunately I do not have a good way to transfer it directly to a digital source. I can tape (VHS  ) if you want, just let me know.

Watching it right now! GO PETTER!!!

He and Gronholm are really duking this one out... I keep wanting to go to Rally-Live and look up the results but I should wait and finish the action.

Awesome race!

Great to see Petter Solberg get in a win on the snow. They guy was a machine putting in some really fast times the whole weekend. He really needed this to help even out the disaster he had at the Monte WRC and the bad luck from late last years racing.

Finally, Loeb gets a DNF. I was still amazed the speed Loeb had considering he was once a "tarmac specialist" only just a couple yrs ago. (he was the first non-nordic champ last year at the Sweden WRC) I was actually cheering last night (at 12:15am) when they interviewed Loeb about his DNF. hehe.

However I believe I have found my newest and favorite rally driver. (close 2nd to Solberg of course)

Gigi Galli. The guy had a stage win! Never drove for Mitsi. before, shows incredible talent and only slowed down after team management gave him orders to do so. See here for some awesome rally vids of Galli: http://movfast.com/forums/viewtopic.php ... ight=galli (http://movfast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1379&highlight=galli)

I think with Panizzi as a serious threat to Loeb on the tarmac and Galli as a everything else driver, Mitisu. should have a good year now that they are 100% back in the WRC.

The event itself was interesting as there wasn't a bunch of snow at first but then it got better. Seeing these driver doing 120mph on full snow is truly astonishing..yikes!

If anybody wants a copy of the rqace on tape let me know.

yea, lots of exposed rocks.

Nissan does not have a factory WRC race team. They might however have some entires in the much smaller Micro rally classes thou.

While the Skyline is certaintly a beast, it would have a hard time against the smaller EVO's, STi's, Pugs, and Citronen's. The cars are also limited to turbo charged 4 cylinders with no more than 2000cc. (300hp max too) (Subaur uses the UK spec STi 2.0L engine..the USDM engine would be out of qualifications)
The skyline is a 6cycl. 3.0l twinturbo I believe and just too big/heavy and fast.

Back in the 70's Nissan/Datsun had some potent factory cars. A good freind of mine raced a factory backed Datsun in the African endurance rallies. He said it made the Baja 1000 look like a small sprint race!

Great race! And what a victory for Subaru and Petter Solberg. Very disappointing about Marcus Gronholm in the final stages, he is always a solid contender on any surface.

Glad to see Loeb's DNF... for once... good gravy. That kid has grown alot in the past few years, but his nerves are not quite strong enough for a snow rally IMHO.

On a side note, Davis -
Did you see the little vignette about losing studs from your alpine tires as the stages go by? I knew they lost studs, but not that many... Glad to see Pirelli's new P-Zero snow rally tire is made with studs from the inside out now so that they can't lose studs (and traction...)

Yes I saw that and thought Pirelli was making a huge step toward snow tire technology. Now if they could get their tarmac dry tire up to speed it would be great. Solberg's new teamate is Sebastian Serrazin (didn't do well in snow). He's an ex-F1 ace and is a serious tarmac stud. Should prove to be an interesting year.

It sure looks like it. I'll look it up later and double-check.

too bad I was not entered. I would surely have given solberg a run for his money. J/K! :)
