Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. is on track to badge its high-performance Skyline GT-R sports car in North America as a Nissan, not as an Infiniti.
A brief debate erupted within the company over the car's U.S. badging. Some argued that Infiniti needed a performance car, whereas the Nissan brand already has the 350Z.
"The decision is not made," said Carlos Tavares, Nissan's vice president for the product strategy and product planning division. But he added, "If we don't change the specific target customer" for the Skyline GT-R, "it will be a Nissan."

I'll be happy as long as they give us the GTR version. But I think I'd perfer it to be Nissan, just because as a Nissan it'd probably be more affordable than as their luxury division Infinity. Is there any information as to what they plan to do to make the gtr different from the normal skyline/g35? Like AWD... I doubt they'll give it any boost as that would put it over Japan's 300hp production limit.

Yeah, what we know as the G35 sedan and coupe are known as the Nissan Skyline in Japan, though a GT-R is yet to be developed. As for performance, I'd much rather have a G35 coupe than any other non GTR skyline. Ultimate power potential may not be as great, but I don't plan to put $40,000 into a car anytime soon.

g35 sedan and coupe are NOT built on the same platform.

Doesn't the G35X already have ATTESSA (spelling?), the varibale AWD system from the GT-R? Why would I be excited about a re-badged G35X in Nissan trim? I agree that it's just not the same. The older Skylines carried similarities from model to model...a G35 doesn't resemble any of them.

I was un-aware that the G35X was equipt with ATTESA... shows how much I know. So is this article saying that there is going to be a G35X coupe? Or does that already exist and I don't know about it.
