Which is sad and why it needs to come back. There's something about the whole crew that even follows the sportruck scene. They're more my kind of people if you know what I mean. The past few years, any import shows are full of fags with gay cars that have not one drop of sweat or blood in them.

Jay
03-13-2005, 10:09 PM
lol that's cause 99% of the ppl with imports are fags.. take that whole group of belpre kids with crx's for example

Don juan futon
03-13-2005, 10:10 PM
Ha ha ha. Was that sarcastic or not?

Jay
03-13-2005, 10:12 PM
no it was 110% honest opinion i hate those kids

generally, import drivers are kids who are complete morons who have watched F&F too many times an think cause they have an import with a loud muffler it's a racecar then go talk about how they outrun everything..

Jay
03-13-2005, 10:22 PM
I was at Belpre Napa friday when one of those jackass's that work at the lube place in Belpre called needing something.. anyways he was talkin bout his dohc something or other.. an how it would outrun a Corvette an bla bla.. my buddy who works at Napa was like uh right..

which further proves my point

That just goes to prove that reading magazines and the internet doesn't mean that you know SHIT about cars. And more importantly, how to work/build cars.

lol
the more ppl i meet the more ppl id like to shoot..

some of my friends work at Advanced Auto, an believe me when im there i come in contact with so many morons.. i dont know how many times some punk kid in some pos has been in there lookin outside at the row of mustangs in the parkinglot an say 'yea but when i put my turbo kit on..'
We all just kinda look at him like the fool he is an are like uh yea.. when an if you do that, you'll prob keep up with one of us, then we'll put forced induction on.. shoulda woulda coulda but didnt.. shut your mouth

hell, even some of the people working for Advanced are douche's (is that the right plural?) anyway, I was in there the other day asking about lights or something, he told me Oh yea, these are 12 volt. and it said on the package, 3v interior lights, Then I asked what he recomended for something he's like I'd buy AC $#!t it's the best (meaning APC) I was like.... ok, youve helped enough. Jay is right every body around here had a S10 ten years ago. Just like the imports now there was some good ones and alot of bad ones. Greg Riggs had the S10 Blazer with a 327 and 4.11 posi. Jay had a black S10. Andy had a white one. Spencer had a black 2.8 S10 that he tore the hell out of and of course Bobby had to have one. Cochran had the yellow blazer and the air ride Mazda truck I do believe both show winners. So yeah the truck scene was pretty big around here and then it died off. Oh and yeah my good friend Dave Riggs works at a Advance Auto and we wont even get started on the the dumba$$es that come in there and brag about thier compact taking Corvettes.

I would like to see more myself...well done trucks of course..... 8)

Civics with wire rims that stuck out 7 inches past the fender but were only 5 inches wide killed the trucks. lol

03-14-2005, 03:27 PM
lol yea imports kinda took over.. i went from the S10 to the RX7, an from there to about a million other cars. Trucks like anything else faded out as fads changed.. I would like to have bout a 91+ S10 now actually.. 2.5 4cyl 5spd good gas mileage, pounded to the concrete sittin on 17" billet's

as far as Advanced goes.. theres alot of morons who work there. There's a few ppl who are nice but just dont know anything.. but there are a few who do know what theyre dong

I'm working on a 2k s-10, extended cab. (Full urethane body kit, custom blue metalic flake paint, clear corners, cf tails, under body/dash neons, 2 7" screens in the visors, 4 10's (soon), only 2 infinity 10's and a 1000 watt amp, painted interior, chrome 18's (20's in May) etc etc... Vortec V-6) I'll get some pics of it, I also have another friend with a 98 s-10 Lowered 3-4 2 Audiobahn 12s pushing 800 watts RMS, clear turn signals, some painted interior, polished 18's, plain black with a roll pan and a taneau. Cleanest lowered s-10 that youve ever seen.

They didnt really "fade out" just changed groups of people. They are always around, Just not so much on this forum...

See, no offense, I'm sure your s-10 will be nice. But that's not a sportruck. The sportruck scene is about layin the frame on the ground and tuckin some nice wheels or having a nice suttle drop with some mad power under the hood. I don't think I could ever convince myself to EVER put a body kit or neons on a truck.

ANd yeah, bobby's truck was the gayest s-10 I have ever seen. That thing was a piece of shit!

I like the kit... I like the look of a stock s-10 that's clean and low too, but not the "permanantly under construction" crap you see with the 18 yr olds drivin around saying "im workin on it" and primer half of it and bondo the other half... some people just make me laugh. And the whold chopping the springs to drop them What are they thinking, just put a lil money into it and it'll lay low and ride right w/o tearing up suspension, alignment, and the strut towers on those big potholes...

Almost all trucks don't have struts. :D 8)

But yeah, I totally agree. Unless they're smart enough to know HOW many coils to chop off by the width of the wire itself or the spring rating. (Most of those people don't have a clue. They'd heat em up) But most factory springs would never be lucky enough to chop down and have ride as nice as if you just forked out the 100 bucks.

Jay
03-16-2005, 12:49 AM
S10 springs = 1 1/2 coils cut off, gives you just over 3" of drop
lol
hey.. when we 1st started doin this stuff a loooong time ago, no one wanted to buy springs.. dono how many sets me an Dave cut for ppl

Don juan futon
03-16-2005, 08:34 AM
Hey I never said it couldn't be done good. I just said it would never ride as good as an aftermarket set.

sweeteffx
03-16-2005, 03:16 PM
yeah! You can chop them, and ride on rocks, or you can go ab $300 and get a nice 2-3 drop and still have factory ride. or even 3-4 for ab 500.

Jay
03-16-2005, 04:35 PM
hrm, honestly cut springs dont ride any better than drop springs in the front of an S10.. i know it sounds stupid but its true for some reason.

You mean that the other way around? If so, yeah they do. There's a difference, but much better than cut springs. Drop springs have the wire size increased as well as the spring rate perfect to compensate for the lowered stance.

Jay
03-16-2005, 06:20 PM
yea i did meen the other wya around.. an other than the cut springs bein able to get bottomed out rather easy, they dont ride worse.

I agree to an extent. Depends on the spring and truck application.

My old roommate was into about anything with wheels and a motor. He jacked up a blazer and make a swamper out of it with some hoss v8, and he did the sport truck thing with one of the motors out of the mekurs that he was playing with. 2.3l turbo into an old school Ford Ranger. That was actually a pretty mean truck. Dropped it to the ground, with bags, welded sheet metal over the bed. Reversed the bed basically and did some stuff up in the underside.

its easier to swap the 2.3l turbo out of a thunderbird but anyways either will work. Yeah Dave Riggs had a truck up at his house like every weekend and he would put blocks and cut springs in all the time but Dave and Greg made custom lower arms that used reg length springs to lower the front.

Sport Trucks are cool, but I'm more into the full-sized. I've always wanted a decent 85 Cheyenne to customize as a hauler. Also, always on the lookout for a 68-72 Bronco/Blazer that isn't eaten up for a summer cruiser.

Nope. I HAVE seen a blazer lately though that's pretty tight. I bet it's got dros though cuz it rides bouncy. Bags don't ride like that. I'll keep my eyes peeled though. I have been thinking about building another truck. Keepin' my air ride and what not...

What? It'd depend on what was done to the civic....Maybe forced induction. ANd yes, your damn right I drive an import. I love my baby. But I used to have a truck on 20's, a cadillac with hydraulics, a 64 Impala on bags. I BUILD cars. I'm gonna BUILD my car. I don't really get into the import scene like most people do. I do it for the love of your OWN car. I don't know. I almost felt like I lost my dignity when I started buying "BOLT ON PARTS"
Ha ha ha ha! But my heart will ALWAYS belong to the sport truck scene, I just broadened my horizons a bit. I went to school for 2 years with nothing but rednecks who HATED imports. So I bought my car while I was there and it outran cummon's that were built every day. Ha ha ha. <STREET RACING> Ha ha ha. This is probably goign to get me in trouble for talking about. But it was in Lima and about 6 months ago. There's none going on HERE! Nor will there be!
Anyhow, what I'm trying to say is the "import scene" brings in a lot of fags and wanna be's that think they know it all and really don't. Ha ha ha. I don't say anything unless I know what I'm talking about and I hate when people lie like they know. There's a difference between an enthusiast and an "import fag" (I guess you could call them that.) And I know a lot of people on here feel the same way. But back to the topic, the truck scene is a blast and I love custom work.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I too went to a school where most weren't fond of imports, but they could indeed outrun them in Lima. There are def. some people that know a lot about imports and building them and tuning them; and then there are those who 'pose' and just try to join the import scene. I LOVE my car too, but I never try to talk about anything I know nothing about (as you already know about my motor mount question). Sometimes there's just a lot of money available for spending and you can buy a really fast import from the factory without knowing what goes on in the inside....but there is a difference between having an import and being proud of it and riding in an import trying to be like Hollywood's Fast and Furious. Guess we're on the proud side of the spectrum

Yeah, that was my bad. I didn't realize how many pages had come after those comments when I posted the original. Additionally, I was talking to some buddies from home and they said there's a video at Blockbuster that has the Civic beating a Corvette. I don't think it's the same one I was talking about, but it's worth checking out. Obviously the Civic isn't n/a and is most likely spraying; nonetheless, it still beat it. Guess anything has a chance if you throw enough time and $$$ into it, know what I mean?

Jay

Went to the Mopar nationals at National Trails a couple of years ago and they had a Neon shootout and a Viper shootout this was before the SRT-4. They then took the winner of each shootout and raced them the Neon won buy a car length and a half. Doesnt matter though because which would you rather have? :)

i have never said any import, 4cyl, ect. cannot beat a vette, v8, v12, whatever.. if youve got the money to spend allmost any vehicle has potential.

I believe ya...guess the way you said it in the one thread made it seem like it was unheard of to think a Civic could outrun a Vette. And in the case of the Neon and the Viper, I would rather drive the Viper...of course! I think I even mentioned it once before, there's a Tercel back home that rules the track (most of the time)...takin' out TT Supras, 3000GTs, 300ZXs, Z28s, etc... It is one bad machine with LOTS of $$$ in it; yet still street legal. Very impressive

Yes, and there are tons of powerful engines with just the right KNOWLEDGE of what works and what makes power will get you far ahead. BUT, I don't see a n/a civic pulling a vette. Oh well though.

actually i have to say th sport trucks are coming back here. i see more and more new rides rolling around town. not all of them are show winners, but hey its the thought that counts. i also read a little piece on whole body kit in the truck deal. I dont think body kits are all that bad. I put one on my truck and molded it in. i mean i never had any intention of laying frame with the truck, or tearing the hell out of it dragging. I just wanted a nice street cruiser and built the truck up from there. I also see a lot of large wheel bashing. I agree. if you arent tucking the 20's,you should shut your damn mouth about it. bolting a set of 20's onto an s-10 that isnt dropped doesnt make you a mini trucker. Hail to the low gods

i have some spare time, so i figure what the hell, ill just add another post. since i see no mini truck owners really on here i figure i may as well make my presence felt or something. I was sitting in a parking lot along grand central the other night watch the import kids roll by, and i had to wonder:
how many of them actually built that damn car. I think the only "blood, sweat, tears" they've had during their "build up" was when there dad smacked them in the mouth for running up his credit card bill at creative customs. I can see possibly paying someone to do some paint work, but i think the rest should be up to you. Personally im doing it all, which ill probably mess up, but thats half the fun of it!

lol..
only problem w/that is creative customez is closed now
gay shit rollin in this town now comes from garbage trendz

i dont have a problem w/ppl paying a shop for their kit, puttin it on, ect.
cause alot of ppl just cannot do it
but i do think ppl who buy cars allready done because they arent creative enuff to come up with ideas on their own, then tell everyone how they did it or had it done ect. are homo's

haha well i wasnt aware they finally closed their doors. I don't keep up with the "custom" shops in this town much.I agree body work can be a bit tricky, and its a pain in the arse to do. and yes buying a finished custom car is pretty damn lame when u push it off as u doing all the work.

Jay
05-01-2005, 03:04 PM
indeed

some bodykits are ok, i like subtle..
no one in this town however knows the meening of subtle tho apparently
most the things in town you see look like a transformer with an F14 wing

speaking of F14 wing..
has anyone seen that white/primer sunfire with the huge wing on it?

owning a truck was fun...talk about easy to work on...the old S-series trucks were cake, and everything was interchangeable....thus explaining how every truck in the vienna area came up missing their sport mirrors(lol) and all of my friends trucks ended up getting the sport mirrors... wonder how that happened. I wouldnt mind building another truck, it would be cool if more people got into it that were into it back in the day. The trucks that made me get into it was Jays "mello yellow" truck with the IROC-Z wheels, and riggs' "ol' white" with the red and white paint on the vette rally wheels I liked both of those rides. :)Ol Skool

LOL Mello Yello!!!!! Oh and OL White he had the 1.9 isuzu engine in it I do believe with a dynomax muffler that only took 30 pipe reducers to fit the exhaust and he put them all on in the parking lot at the good ol auto value in Vienna.

The tranny had a bad bearing so he used the universal cure.........120w gear oil. Worked in power steering too.

man that truck just refused to die..
then he traded it off to some hilljack, that moron put a liftkit on it "2wd s10 mind you' then blew the motor within what a month? thats of course after wrecking it like 6 times

most multiple axle trucks like that....only have one that turns and the rest are for show only. kinda stupid if you asked me. last year i did a see a tandem axled 1st gen s-10 rolling. had 17's or 18s all the way around...red with ghost flames. have never seen it ssince.

ya i missed it too, so i bought a 2.5 4cylinder/5 speed 1st gen s10 last week..short bed of course.. , tinted the windows, threw on a set of 93 tails with the chrome trim, put on a nice shift knob, and a clarion cd player in so far LOL, engine swap begins this weekend, it has aluminum wheels and a tonneau cover, oh and the bed is ported to the cab with a boot for the stereo
the plans are a 93 geille swap, new red paint, and drop it 3 in the front and 4 in the back, and some type of billet wheels

01-31-2006, 04:02 PM
oh and a blazer tail gate skin and roll pan are ging to be a must :D

i bought this thing for a nice daily driver, cadillac eats my paycheck b/c i work at coldwater creek and my car averages 9-11 mpg

daveb91

Engine swap, SB?

crazyassbill
01-31-2006, 04:22 PM
either 2.8 with fwd 3100 heads, edelbrock intake and holley carb, or 3.4 camaro long block, or just a fuel injected 2.8 swap( most likely this b/c of the price of gas and i can get it complete with wiring harness, ecu for 150 bones...right now i'm pulling the engine and detailing it under the hood, pullling inner fenders for repainting and scrubbing and repainting whatever else i get my hands on ( i don't drive vehicles that don't look like new under the hood)

I would go with the 3.4 since all the motors are basically the same. but why go through the trouble with a swap and not do a 4.3 or sb?

low_s10_21
01-31-2006, 10:01 PM
i agree....with all the work...why bother swapping in something like that. a 4.3 or sb is the way to go for s-10 motors if youre doing a swap. if i werent going to swap either of those...i think id just leave it with the stock motor

crazyassbill
02-02-2006, 02:56 PM
i need something with good gas mileage, no 4.3's or v-8's

the stock 4 cylinder needs rebuilt, it misses bad, burns oil and occassionally catches fire, it been known to blow fire balls out of the tbi up to the hood,

i might just rebuild the engine the kit is 345 with out pistons or 400 with pistons

low_s10_21
02-02-2006, 06:08 PM
yeah i understand that. i think id just rebuild the 2.5. they are good motors all around and usually last a while. good luck on that

LOL i got bored so.......

i bought a 700r4 with yoke and driveshaft, flywheel, 4 barrel intake, put my 650 holley on it and bought that edelbrock low profile foam pro flow air filter assembly, i'm buying a 283 impala ss engine in the morning and rebuilding it in two weeks when i get paid
so i guess i went the other way with the gas mileage plan

Keepin the motor somewhat stock or what? If youre willin to use a stall converter I'd get the same cam that came in the DZ302. 283 rip's quick, it's essentially a 302 with a smaller bore. And yes ford fans, Chevy did make a 302.
