Could your firewall/router be stopping it? Maybe it uses some strange port to do the download.

Ding ding ding... that may be the winner. Quicktime uses some funky port to download it's software. If you have the automatic firewall enabled on your router, that may be the problem.
Also, what version of quicktime are you trying to install? Is it just an old quicktime installation file you are trying to install or is it the newest version from the apple website?

I don't believe its the router. I have never seen a linksys router come from the factory with ports blocked by default.
Check it, but I don't think thats where your problem lies.

That's funny, I've seen a few models come with it enabled from the factory, but others don't.
Besides, he didn't say what type of router it was so I didn't assume linksys.
Hey Cam: Maybe you just suck at teh internet?

My guess is the firewall.
Cam, if nothing works, I'll put online the latest quicktime program with full installer. Thats what I use here at work for pl to load on so I do not have to DL it every time. on each puter.
Let me know if you need it. Easy.

I could of sworn last time I was there he had a linksys router....again I could be wrong.
Majority of the time they don't block ports unless you specify something like telnet or ftp etc........just depends.
Routers are firewalls by default. Using Nat as a translater it is inheriently a firewall and vice versa..... 8)

yea this router came with like 10 diff blocks with the firewall i had to change half the settings just to be abel to play xbox live......its one of the 90$ linksys wireless-G routers.........i think it may be having some conflict with the video card because i was talking to the comp. guy at school today because there are alot of these compaq's at school and he said that for them to watch alot of things on these they had to unstall the normal driver and get a new one.
