Alright well here in the next few weeks whenever i get enough of the green, Im gonna be purchasing the headunit for my next stereo. So far I think I have narrowed it down too, 2 headunits that cost pretty much the same ($80 difference). The two headunits are the Pioneer Premiere DEH-P960MP and the Alpine CDA-9835. I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with can you guys offer any input?

The alpine is 26w * 4

The Pioneer is 22w * 4

the alpine pre outs are only 4v

while the Pioneer pre outs ar 6.5v

But the pionner automatically adjust the acustics in the car for u while the alpine u have to set the timing and alignment yourself

The Alpine looks better. (personal opinion) The other one looks pretty taky.. and its got more power, with the exception of the pre-outs, but who's gonna use nice enough RCA's to do it? and its not got the power anyway. so, yea, Alpine looks like the best choice to me, Although I'm a bit partial to Kenwood.

Nothing that is ever supposed to work "automatically" does.....

Is there a little midget that will pop out and adjust your settings...?

What I think he's saying is that the Alpine might be one of the headunits that will automatically adjust the volume according to the RPM input of the engine. Faster you go the louder it gets. It's really a nice feature, I don't remember which company pioneered the concept, but it's cool none-the-less.

No, what i mean is the pioneer comes with a mic that you strap to your headrest and plugs in where you see the little plugin on the bottom of the folded down faceplate and then the headunit begins to play a tune and depending on what that mic picks up the headunit automatically adjust the equalizer and the time delay ( the amount of time it takes the sound to reach your ears) accordingly allowing for better staging. On the alpine you have to do this yourself. The pioneer also has ASL which allows it to adjust the sound inside the cabin accroding to rpms of the vehicle and the road noise it detects.

Auto EQ
Finding the "sweet spot", or optimal listening position, is complicated by sound's reflection and damping, as well as variable speaker positioning in the irregular shaped confines of a car. Such conditions tend to degrade frequency characteristics. Auto EQ automatically fine-tunes the entire range of the music's frequency bandwidth, using 13-band graphic equalization for front and rear speakers. Simply plug in the included microphone and let the frequency band fine-tuning go to work. It;s like having a sound engineer customize your in-car sound system.

Auto Time Alignment
Pioneer's innovative Auto Time Alignment automatically shifts the soundstage in front of the listeners, bringing out the vocals in the process, to create the optimal in-car reproduction of your music. Using the included microphone, it estimates the delay from each speaker to the listening position and adjusts the speaker sound output timing accordingly. The output timing for each speaker is adjusted precisely so that the sound from each speaker, wherever it is installed, reaches the driver's ears at the same time, thus optimizing the listening experience.

For the moment it will be going in a 93 Dodge Carvan with the Infinity stereo, in the summer i should be getting a new car and this will then be transported to that. Right now the tapedeck in the van is just tickin me off lol and id love to play some mp3 cds and get a good sound.

lol, sounds like something I'd do. I've got my car, and the parts to fix it, and its not on the road, yet, Im building a fiberglass speaker box cover and making a new system setup. The parts for the car lay beside it untouched for a week.
