Ford Escort DAWG!

So my dad bought my sister a car. Its a 1994 Ford Escort with only 20,000 miles :shock: yeah, i was shcoked too when i heard of this, but its a new crate motor from advance. Everything is ok from what heard about it, except that the rear suspension needs work, but you can jury rig it I guess (the towers rusted out for some reason, it happens to most escorts, considering the rest of the car ok, not a big deal.) We just have to see if one of our buddies will fix it, and weld some patch panels up by the rear towers. Whenever I run out of gas in the Olds Ill drive around in it for a bit, after its fixed that is. Ill most likely have it wednesday or something like that, but ill try to post pics monday

The Gt escorts with 1.8 mazda motor are the same motors as the Mercury capri had so if you can find a turbo capri it will bolt up. Also its basically the same motor as you will find in the Miata and Protege as well as 323. So turbo 323 will also fit the Escort 1.8l. If I am correct the awesome cosworth escorts were something completely different than what we got there which is really no surprise.

Only in West Virginia, don't have to in Ohio. There is a lot of stuff you guys have to pay that we don't. Plus our insurance is tons cheaper.

If it wasnt for the emission laws, my dad would have had his honda 800 convertible and his fuel injected TR-6 here :( He drove them when he ran his little communications business when he lived in hong kong for a bit. Anyways, Im picking it up tonight so hopefully i'll have pictures up.

and to finalize, yeah , the 2nd gen escorts were turbo, in two forms, the gtx, and gtr, 190 horse, or the very nice 210 horse monster, with the earlier escorts, (boxy ones, not the somewhat smoother ones like mine),had a 1.9 turbocharged motor in the states, but, they were not the greatest performer in the world. The cosworth, on the other hand, is a totally different beast, sharing only the body with the escort, and is available in canada, but you're looking at around 8000 for an early 90's model.
Anyone interested in the mazda 1.6 or 1.8 should go to corksport.com, they carry a good selection of parts, including manifolds, swaps, and superchargers for most of the above vehicles.

I picked it up today. the back strut mounting plates arent bad at all, ive seen worse so I dont think im going to mess with it. It has power everything, overdrive tranny, cruise control, and pretty much new everything. The engine actually only has 17K. The old engine blew up after it ran out of oil because of the drain plug. It has all thses band stickers on the back window, which are ok i guess, and the windshield needs some sealer (aka duct tape on it now.) Whenever i can find my camera, or find someone that has one, ill put some up 8)

We're a poor state because we have idiot governors [see: crazy ass liberals]. All of the taxes collected increase the state economy expenditures. Take an econ class, its pretty smart for the state. Now me..I'd like to see where in the hell that money is going.

Merkur XR4Ti. Same thing as an escort, but w/ a cosworth turbo (2.3l engine, same as the turbo-coupe and SVO Mustangs.)
