Ok, bout ready to start putting a little money into the Sub, since I've gotten over the notion of trading it in on a new truck. Planning on starting with some wheels since, a) the tires are getting to a point where I should start thinking about changing them, b) nearly all the paint is flaking or has flaked off the wheel overs, leaving them looking like yellow plastic.

They're 15" stock, and you can see a picture at the bottom of this thread (http://movfast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1009).

My question is, what size should I go with on this car? I don't want to dump a bunch of money into wheels since I have plans that span from front to rear.

I found a decent set (Kazera KZ-V (http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/CallJsp?target=wheelSearchCloseUp&initialPartNumber=KZV025S&sizeIndex=0&wheelIndex=38&autoMake=Subaru&autoModel=Outback+Sport&autoYear=1997&autoModClar=&showRear=null), silver w/polished lip) of light 17" (17lbs ea) at Tire Rack, and with 205/50/17s and shipping, will run about $900.

I can get the same wheel in 16"s (16lbs), with 205/55/16s shipped for about $800.

At Wheels Next I like a pair of 15" R1 Spec V (http://www.wheelsnext.com/product.phtml?p=1977)'s that come in a package with 195/50s for $499. Don't know what they weight, but they're listed under "lightweight racing rims".

Thoughts?

Sessions have expired on the pics...

You may want to copy and upload it to movFast to host....

Anyway, I say grab some reasonanble tires, and paint/powdercoat the rims...

Save alot of $$...

Looks just as good...

Use the extra cash for vacation, or something...

They're wheel covers. The wheels are slotted steel.

Meh, WRX wheels can be had for dirt cheap with stock RE92's (decent all around tire though not particularly sporty.) You can find a set of 02-04 wheels and tires for under $400 easily and the new 05 style ones for under $600.

Just a thought for the moment.

I actually already put a bid in on some wheels at ebay. Nothing extremely fancy, but decent enough for the price. Not going to bother posting a link, in case I don't get them, but hoping it goes through.

Thanks. Just a few hours to go, but I don't want to jinx it...

Bastards... went to bed with the high bid and 45 minutes left in auction (I was 9th bid). Price doubled in those last 45 minutes. Like I said, nothing spectacular, but if I could have gotten them at $80, that's a set of 17s for $200 (with shipping).

Possible change in plans, anyway.... took my car in to have it looked at for a leak, and found out the rack/pinion is going, and some other stuff, and it's going to run $1-1.2k+ to fix. Trying to decide whether it's worth dumping that money in it and trying to continue driving it, or go ahead and try to trade it in on a newer truck.
