too bad there isnt really anything american in 05' id really consider buying.. lol

GM has the GTO which alltho i think is one of the most comfortable cars i have ever been in, i still look at it as an rwd grandprix with 400hp
i have seen some wicked awesome twin turbo kits for them as well as other performance goods.. but the car itself is just so not-cool-looking
it really looks like something an older lady would go buy
i dono how many of you seen the movie "The Last Ride"
but it had the yet to be released GTO and a 70' Judge
in the movie they stole the GTO then to camaflauge it from the police they kitted it out, bolted up some wheels, and painted it bright red.. cause well you know, painting something bright red sure doesnt make cops look at you or nothing
anyhow, here's a pic of it i'll post below.
i couldnt find a better pic of the side ect, but i think the kit looked really good in the movie.. not a big fan of the nose it's sportin in this pic but it'd prob grow on me with time.. this kit isnt real bad, make the car look a lil better i think.
when i think of the gto i think musclecar, not grocery getter
same with mustang, camaro, ect.
and i think a dropped stang sittin on some good lookin rims, nice hood ect.
like say Ryan's Cobra for example, looks mean.. that is what a modern day muscle car should look like. it's sleek and mean looking, not 60y old woman appealing styling like the new gto has

and as for the 05' mustang
yea, i must confess i really like it.. but its like any other mustang imo
a year from now there will be one on every block, and no matter what you do to yuor to try an make it dif some asshole in this town will copycat what you did. ive had like 274039 mustangs.. i love them, but im really burnt out on them

basically as far as a brand new car i would personally go buy.. i havent even given thought to anything american. and for me that's extremely odd.

yeah it was no suprise to me they extended the gm discount, we sold over 200 cars last month, even though there not making as much money on each vehicle, selling in mass quantities fills the pockets all the same.

Do they still make the supercharged Grand Prix?

And remember, the mustang was never really meant to be a musclecar. It wasn't until Caroll Shelby took interest, that Ford decided to take the ball and run. Same with the Camaro, and Yenko. It was supposed to be a little "sporty", but they wanted no competition with the Vette. Then once they noticed how well Yenko's Camaros were selling, they started selling them that way.

The GTO pictured above doesn't look too bad, but I agree they need to veer from the typical GA/GP look (even though there are slight variances between the GA and GP, they still look very similar).

If I was going to buy something new to utilize this discount (other than a truck, that is), I might go with something like the Marauder. It's big enough to be comfortable, but also tweakable. The Cobalt SS may be an option, but I don't think I'd buy another small car (of course, I said the same thing after the CRX, then turned around and bought the OBS). I'd buy another GM in a heartbeat if there was more of a performance market for the 3.8L. If they'd released a performance model of the new Regal, or something, I bet there'd be a lot of interest from guys my age (family oriented, but still interested in something sporty; grew up with the T-Types and GNs; etc). Make a supercharged 3.8 an option with a stiffer suspension and some 17/18" Cragar SS look-a-likes (in billet or chrome). And of course, to really appeal to us 30-somethings, a pair of t-tops. Because, well, that's what was cool when we were growing up.... 8)

3.8L's are probably the best V-6 engines IMO. My dad has one in his grand voyager, and I have one in my car. GM has the series III now, Chrysler doesnt make it anymore, now they have a 250HP 3.7L. Gm is going to be moving away from the 3.8L for a 3.9 VVT engine. As for grand prix's having the S/C engine, i think you can only get the 5.3L V-8 and a N/A 3.8L

I was thinking about getting this for about a couple days
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 4558791757 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4558791757)

but then decided not to.

*gasp* someone who knows what a t-type is.. lol
i wouldnt mind havin a GNX sittin in my garage.. to collect dust where i wouldnt drive it but it'd be awesome to have.

an as far as a t-roof, that's the best thing about an f-body.. and its the coolest thing about the 87-88 mustang gt, they were available.
also cool on the 300zx
i heart t-roof's

my ex-g/fs dad had 2 GNX's, and a T-type. Probably the reason my ex didnt drive was because one of the GNX's flipped and almost killed them. But oh well, she cheated on me, and I dropped her like a dirty sock, because i had another sock that was clean

I had a 90 Delta 88 Royale and a 92 LeSabre, both with the 3.8s, and loved those things to death. About one of the smoothest engines I've ever had the pleasure to crank each morning. Thinking back on them only furthers my desire to own another. When did they stop S/C'ing them? I was sure they were still around in '03.

And the 3.9 is what they put in the G6, right? Are there any other models out with it, yet? I haven't heard any reviews on it, and wondered how they performed by comparison to the 3800s.

Also, if I may add to my wishlist Regal, that the opted version would be available in RWD, as they did the Impala SS in the mid-90s.

Kind of on topic GM now has the 3.8 3800 series III.

GM has the series III now

i dont think its much of a change from the others, since the series 2 just has a better intake/exhaust than the series 1. and you can bolt the series 2 to a series 1 without any different mounting kits

90's Regal's in Rwd...that's interesting...

they are gonna put the 3.9 in the 2006 Monte carlo and Impala due out this fall. They are also putting a 5.3L displacement on Demand engine in the monte carlo too, not sure about the impala tho

also, a sidetrack to the 3.8L.... a friend of mine had a 93 Olds 98 down by his barn, it sat there for at least 4 years, so we put a battery in it, and it started right up. It needed brakes though, but all in all, it ran fine. The gas was still good too in it :P
