I get jack and crap for radio here in Sumter; 1 country station, 1 oldies station, and then 138 R&B stations. I can barely stand it, and was talking to a guy who has XM and really likes it.

My Pioneer deck is XM ready, so if I were to pick up a subscription, would I need any additional hardware?

Thats all I'd need? Because I have this OmniFi 20GB HD system that I still need to install, which has it's own faceplate, and I won't have room for a 3rd

XM ready, you will still need the receiver and the antenae.

Being pioneer, I am sure they make one that will plug directly into your headunit.

The receiver is just the little black box, right? So I could use my existing head unit for the display? That, essentially, is what I'm hoping for.

Do I need THIS (http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=terxmdpio110&catid=6167&store=) too, or just THE TUNER (http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?icatid=6171&stk_code=terxmd1000&svbname=30)?

To complete the installation of an XMDirect system the Universal Tuner box (XMD1000) must be installed with an XMDirect Smart Digital Adapter.

Sorry, just found this. Guess I need both...

Would this work, then, since it's Sirius and my deck says XM? It's for Pioneer decks.

I like the one you linked, but since I have my CD/MP3 player in one din, then my OmniFi 20GB MP3 player controller in another din, a seperate controller thingy for satelite radio would be clunky looking. It would be best, for me, to get one that just plugs into the Pioneer, so I can use it's display.

So which is better, XM or Sirius? And what's the sound quality like? Is it CD quality, or FM quality?

In my opinion it is better than FM, but not quite as good as CD quality, although it's supposed to be.

As far as where to buy it, I'm pretty sure it doesn't really matter cause the price is pretty much preset by XM.

I would get XM over Sirius, but take a look at the programming/stations of each and decide for yourself which would suit you better.

I have had sirius for the last 2 years and I like it. You can goto either web site and listen for a few days for free. I have seen a good mix bettween both. Best thing is pick by the line up that they offer. Sound quality is really about the same. Hope this helps.

Bleh, sorry guys, it doesn't matter now. I just found out that the satelite uses the same IP Bus port on the back of my headunit, that I had to use to convert the RCA feeds on the OmniFi. So I couldn't use both together, anyway...
