got a 98 civic lx

It comes with power door locks, but no cd player/radio/whatever. Faceplate taken off during auction, who knows.

Anyways, my dad said he read that I can get Keyless Entry if I get an OEM Honda radio. What I don't get is that it won't allow me to have a CD Player, so why bother? Also, only one of the power locks is working (driver side). My dad said it might be just that door for power locks, but I have NEVER seen a car like that [or a Honda be that cheap anyways].

Also, whats a good ~$200 area cd player since this seems illogical to buy a bunch of hardware that I can't hook a good system up to. I'm a total dumbass to this stuff, so any help is appreciated.

Actually you could buy a Honda OEM radio and leave the keyless part still hooked to the radio behind the dash, so you could still have keyless, and then you would also be able to get an aftermarket radio. The thing is that are you sure it's like that for your year and model....cause i thought it might have been for accords or something...

Hmm..being that it's an Lx, I don't think they came with the keyless locks..

Have to check, if they did you can swap radios and be just fine, you don't have to use the OEM...

As far as the door lock not working, sounds like a bad wiring or solenoid issue...

i didnt think the keyless entry was installed in the radio except for the 99-00 civics. If i remember right the 96-98 used a different system...go to honda-tech.com or clubcivic.com , they both have real nice tech forums and they could answer your question...thats where i go to get answers to mine..lol

It was in the EX models apparently. If you snag a radio with theft codes, it'll supoosedly work.

One of my windows is off track now too. Oh well, I got the car for $3,000 under book, so I can spend a few hundred getting these minor things fixed / added.

I thought it was the 99+ as well
I remember the 1st time one of my buddies was puttin in a cd player in his civic an he left the factory one plugged in I was like wtf.. Didnt realise it had to do w/keyless entry til then
