June 3 - 10th
Kissimmee, FL - Englishtown, NJ
I've been dying to go for 10 years now, since hearing about the first one in 95; it's on my lifetime to-do list. This one is somewhat close to home and I can't let the opportunity pass. My cousin and I were supposed to go 2 years ago in his 68 Camaro (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2063064), but when it came time to go he didn't have the money (and I could afford both of us).
It'll be a 2500 mile round trip for me (Sumter to Kissimmee, Kissimmee to Englishtown, and Englishtown back to Sumter), but I'm in it for the long haul and already have my co-pilot agreed upon.
That gives me roughly 8 months to get the Turd Bird (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2060282) in good enough running order to make the long haul. I'll have to put the body and interior work aside for now (except for the rear passenger quarter panel which is down to the metal now) and focus my efforts up front. I'm thinking of dropping in a roller camshaft from an 89-93 Ranger, Gillis adjustable boost valve, Bob Log headers and a 3" downpipe, convert the dual exhaust to a single 3" straight pass stainless, replace the turbo with a T3 .58, reroute the plumbing to fit a 28x40 stainless intercooler up front, a Walbro 255 LPH high pressure fuel pump and adjustable pressure regulator, bump the turbo up to 18 PSI and advance the cam to 16 degrees. That should have me running 13's in the quarter for track events but leave me running around 28 MPG for the cruises.
Man, I'm not going to be able to sleep for the next 8 months...
