View Full Version : Jordan's New Brake Setup

We should have done a how-to after we learned the setup....

@ first I didn't care for the Bremo setup, but once we learned the odds and ends of pulling them off, it went fairly quickly.

Justin and I swapped all four rotors for slotted ones and upgraded his pads to a semi-metallic setup. Jordan even went as far as to buy stainless steel lines to replace the rubber oem lines.

Pulling the calipers off went quite well all the way around. The front rotors basically fell off but the back ones gaves us some fits. They are on SUPER tight, although a slight "nudge" with a hammer works wonders.

With the rotor and caliper off, we quickly went to work and changed out the brake lines since we had the most access with nothing in the way.

Once they were changed, we put the new rotor on and placed the caliper back in postition. Once it was bolted down, we slid the new pads in and we were on to the next wheel...

Once we were all done, we flushed and bled the system with Motul fluid. With the dual piston setup, there are 2 bleeder valves per caliper, so it took a few extra minutes. First we bled the master cylinder....and since it was an abs system, we went from passenger rear to drivers front. Drivers rear to passenger front. After removing the air from the lines, the pedal was noticably stiffer from stock.

Overall the install went well, we even had some company along the way.

Jordan sprung for several pizzas which made us all opperate more smoothly.

Cam decided to grace us with his presence, as mentioned earlier myself Justin and Jordan were in attendence.

My buddy Adam was there, earlier we had swapped over my amp/sub combo into his car since mine is down for the rest of the week. His was already wired, but he didn't have the components yet.

Jay showed up with some turbo goodies and then had to leave to go help Josh, then came back again with some more refreshments, (that drumstik was good btw)...

Josh soon followed and hung out for some time.

& Jordans "friend" Erica stopped by and hung out.

So all in all the night went well, had some fun and got something accomplished.

No clue.

Still a few issues we need to address.

Bov still surges @ times(vacuum line) oil sender for his pressure guage isn't working(wiring), and it doesn't want to hold boost @ redline..(leak somewhere)

Just tough for us to get together to pull it aprt and look it over due to our busy schdules as of late..

All in due time though....

Glad to hear it all went well. Can't wait to see em.
Hopefully Jordan did the proper bedding in of the brakes. (instructions come with the pads)
I felt the SS lines and upgraded pads did wonders for me in the braking dept. There's nothing better than diving into a turn at full brakes at the last moment.
Let's see some pics!!

I will try and snap some pics of the new brakes...we still have some bugs to work out w/them...but overall I am pleased with the stopping power, and am braking them in... Thanks to everyone that helped or just stopped by!!! Its always fun to have a bunch of people around when working on cars...

Bov - Put the stock one back on.

Oil pressure gauge - I've been to 2 track days so far and I didn't have one.

Holding boost to redline - Again, not needed. Could be the limit of the turbo.

Excuses, excuses.....

Stock sucks, loud BOV = Cool
The i/c piping seems to be the major problem w/bov tho.

Oil pressure gauge is not needed but nice to have just incase.. I have allways had one in my cars.

Thnx for the pizza Jordan, an for you know.. lettin me beat on your car with a hammer lol

Bov - Jordan's car, don't have much say over that.

Oil Pressure Guage - I mean no disrespect when I say this, but... that statement is rather ignorant. Oil pressure is a crucial guage on a turbo charged car...I am not going to go into detail why, b/c i am sure you can figure it out.

Holding Boost to redline - You don't have upgraded i/c and i/c piping. Again, a leak is somewhere we need to find.

And I agree....excuses excuses...lol..

I am good @ em, I drive a Honda....

Excuses come in the service manual...

Did you guys get the i/c piping shortened up? It's possible there's a leak up there where it goes to the throttlebody since it seems to not be sitting just right.

I don't know, I didn't have time to mess with the i/c piping....as I was installing rotors/pads/brake lines/oil pressure gugages/ and bleeding the brakes....lol...

Yeah the intercooler piping was fixed, that's why it held boost better that night and only fell off to 19.8lbs.

I will keep all that stuff in mind Robbie  Still love you

However the bov will be fine when I get my ems...b/c I can VTA...and it is fine now where it is (fixed the surge prob.)

Um the intercooler piping, just needed some clamps moved around now that there is a racing battery and it has space to move...that problem fixed...

and the whole dropping boost thing was a drop from 22lbs to 18lbs...which now as Justin stated is now doing 21lbs and dropping only to 19.8....soo I must have done something right in five hours...lol...

Oh yeh and the brakes (now that they are more broken in) stop amazingly, and I cant wait to get the car back out to autox to see how she does... So thanks for everyones support and I promise that I will have MANY more parts this winter for everyone to join in and help on  ... oh yeh can u say "farm house", with a 4 stall garage...so i will have a nice place to work on the car as well...not to say Adams driveway isnt nice...its just when its snowing out the driveway isnt lookin so great...

It wasn't compressor surge, it was just his BOV fluttering.
