Just wanted to say I drove out route 26 in ohio yesterday, and I enjoyed it immensely. Lots of nice corners and just a pleasant smooth drive in the country. I would recommend it to anyone :D . I took my g/f with me on the excursion and we wound up at some Wayne National Forest camp site. Then we decided to keep on going out a little ways and we came up to some covered bridge and another campsite. We drove through the bridge and crossed the creek  in the ol' Talon (it was kinda scary cause the water was moving good, made me wish I had a WRX) anyways we hung out there for a while, the woman used the outhouse and we headed back home. All in all I enjoyed the cruise and it would be fun to camp out or something there sometime. 8)

Hiya Narf!

Yes, indeed that road is lots of fun. I use to live 10 miles out that road and always enjoyed the ride going from my house to work:) (I had my modded RS then)

Kurt WRX and I drove out there a couple months ago for fun. I was actually trying to tune my bullet video camera. (it works now)

There are some great roads just off 26 too.

My favorite road list in order of "fun" factor....

1. St Rt. 26 from Broughtons dairy out to 10-15 mile marker. 60mph avg.

2. Rt 676 from Marietta to CO.RD. 4 into Beverly/waterford. Fast, good pavement..60-80mph

3. (I just found this one!) Rt 550 from Lower Salem to Lowell. Great bankings and blind turns/hills. However road needs work and maybe slippery.Actually if you get enough speed going you'll catch some air. (I almost did the other day in my STi  )

Of course these roads are fun until you get behind a farm tractor or a little ole' lady (cotton top)

I recommend that we have some drives on these roads and others this summer!

Rally ON!

RT26 is a very fun road to drive. Once upon a time, long before I was married, I dated this hot little number that lived out by lawrence school (about 14 miles out, I'd say...). I used to love driving out there to visit her.... Whoo.. Anyways, that's a topic best left for another day.

I also suggest SR555 from Little Hocking to Bartlett, as well as SR550 from Bartlett to Athens (VERY FAST). I grew up driving 676, the one davis mentioned.

But the winner, in my book, is Hocking Hills. If you guys are interested, I'll take you out there sometime. I'd say it is one of the more difficult drives in the area, and will truly expose the weaknesses in an automobile if you push too hard.

For a little glimpse of some of the roads at Hocking Hills, check out a map of the area at http://www.hockinghills.com/maps/area.htm.

I usually go out 374 with several buddies from Columbus that are members of OhioHondas.com. Many very cool cliffs, caves, rock sites, rest areas and twisty roads make it a fun and scenic drive.

Yes we were, as a matter of fact... Perhaps that's what got justin to take a drive out there or somethin.

Cool, 26 is a good road...my driving instructor used that road when I was learning how to drive... that was an "interesting" experience with no driving experience at that point.

I've never run it all the way out. I've always stoped at Bear Run (?) that runs into the back of Newport.

Maybe one of these days I'll have a car running that is worthwhile to take out that road and we can go for a run out it.

I also second 555 in ohio, my mom has a house way out there and I have driven it sooo many times. Although i'm not an advocate for speeding, I would say there are not that many people that can drive it as fast as me.

If we do these drives I'd strongly suggest that we keep it at a fun yet safe speed.
If you take St. Rt. 26 for example...I'd recommend nothing over 60-65mph avg.

We may also have a "Bandit" run a mile or so ahead with a FRS radio. He could warn us of traffic. With the speed limit still in effect, of course.

Absolutly...I know I would greatly enjoy all of us getting together on a nice beautiful weekend, cars all shined up and go for a little drivel. Good pictures, good fun. We can be safe, and of course obey the law..no tickets...!!!

How about going to one of the car shows this weekend and then going for a drive. I'm unfamiliar with the road(s), so someone needs to give me some insite or set it up all together.

I'm down for whatever. :driving:

We should do it .Sounds like a good time to me we can all go for a run on Rt.26 i think thats a very good road to Drive on. i live here in newport so ive grown up on it and some other gravel roads off of Rt.25 (bear Run) Rt.26 gets good past the Rt.25 towards leath run and also bloom field which puts u around New Mat. but sounds like a great time to me ( IM IN)
