View Full Version : North American International Auto Show (NIAIS)
Detriot is in my opinion.. the armpit of the counrty. Aonly upstaged closely by Chicago which is the well.. you get the idea. However I have heard so many rumors/stories/ect. of the new Camaro being unveiled at this show I cant help but have some interst sparked to go to it. Mapquest estimates 5hrs 20min fro my house there. As allways you can deduct about 45min off of that. Im kicking around the idea of going..

Sounds awesome, if you do go, hope you have fun. Wehn I went with my parents to visit Kettering in Flint, MI this summer it took us about 6 hours, and Flint is a little north of Detroit. We got into some fairly heavy traffic too, so it might be less time for you.

Ok well I just got back from the autoshow a couple of hours ago, and like last year, there was some nice automobiles there. I was very impressed with the Porsche and their simplistic designs coupled with awsome performance engines and handling. I always enjoy the BMW display, which had the M6 this year, which is a very capable car, but still to large and complex for my taste. My favorite cars at the show where the:
Dodge Challenger - looks smaller in person, and looks like it will be a better power to weight ratio than the Camaro (but prolly similar)...but in my opinion looked a lot better.
Lexus IS 350 - They had one there that was slightly modified, and had an absolutely beautiful paint job. The lines where very sleek and looked to be more performance oriented than previous IS models...
Shelby Cobra 500 - Very true to the mustang design and all the lines are very much improved upon the 06 GT. Sometimes with special editions, you can make a car look gaudy and overy adorned with extras that dont need to be there, however with the Shelby they did a great job making it look even more agressive. The GT 500 convertible looks stunning externally, but the inside has left much to be desired (althought I think the engine does more than make up for it).
Rally Version STi - Davis, this car was one of my favorites!! It looked badass!! Thats pretty much it for that one...
Mitsubishi - Although I don't like the Galant, the regular lancers, I was still very impressed with the lineup... The Evolution IX MR (Rally Red), had a line the whole entire day with people waiting to sit in the car (That was suprising to me). Also I liked the new Eclipse Convertible, the lines are just right , and it keeps its aggressive styling. The new Mitsubishi Concept the "Street Raider", is a performance truck that mitsubishi did a very good job with. It had Brembos all the way around shaved door handles and a very front and rear end.
There were probably others that I am missing, but it was another excellent auto show. As for pictures, I took some digital (until the camera decided to crap out), and the rest are old skool style.... Oh yeh and for some reason the most spectacular colors of blue where at the autoshow, the M3, IS350, Porsche Caymen S, S2000, and others look excellent in their respective new blue colors...
