Anyways, I recently purchased an accord, and I have a slight problem, it maybe common to all cars. It idles really bad, and when you press down on the gas, it acts like it wants to die. It accelerates horribly when it does. Im thinking it could be bad injectors, or a clogged fuel filter, even though the pump isnt loud at all. Ive changed the plugs, and the distributor cap and rotor button are fairly new. I need to get new spark plug seals, but they are alright for now. If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated 8)

What year accord? The older models had a problem with the egr ports getting clogged and giving the ECU bad reading making it idle funny and sputter when taking off.

You should probably check for a code too even if the cel isn't on.

I wouldn't think it would be bad injectors or fuel filter mine are 13 years old. When I worked I at simmons it was rare for a car to come in with those problems.

Also check the timing.

its a 91. I was thinking timing too, but when you rev it up, it doesnt miss and goes to about 6 grand with no problem. There was alot of carbon on the throttle body and intake, so it could be the egr, ill check that here soon. I guess i have to go and get a haynes manual to check the timing, i was looking through one, but i forgot. Its hard to start too, you have to give it a few tries and play with the gas.

Its your egr ports but if you want to check timing i uploaded the pdf off of Honda IN for it here.

I couldn't find the procedure on Honda IN for cleaning the egr ports but I think they use specialty tools and crap. So you could do it the redneck way I did and drill a hole in the ports then screw a drywall screw down the hole part way and use a hammer to pry the port out. Make sure you use a shop vac and get any metal shavings that fell into the hole. Then just use a pic or wire and some carbon cleaner and clean out the holes. I just used the old plugs and just ground off the screw to keep the hole I drilled closed you could also use JB weld or go buy the plug kit at simmons. doesn't take that long at all.
