Tip: Bring the biggest and warmest jacket you can find. For those that haven't been to Belle, it gets very cold and there's ALWAYS wind.

01-04-2006, 09:30 PM
the only bonus to it being windy is when its hot during the summer you get a nice cool breeze........

I'll be there. I get my Supra back a day later than expected, so it'll be Wednesday when I get it back. I'll only have 4 days including Sunday to get back into the swing of driving the Supra after driving a 1983 Dodge D150 for the last month and a half.

I decided to get the head checked for cracks and spec'd/measured for squareness etc while it's off. It'll cost me a 75 bucks and push my getting it back till Wednesday but the stock HG lasted 20 years, and I want to do this HG right so this replacement (Felpro) lasts me another 20. (though realisticly I'll tear it up/apart to fix/upgrade it in another 3 or 4 years).

So yeah I'll be there ... looking forward to it.

BTW, anyone care to help me interpret the rulebook on the addition of a rear shock tower brace in the G-Stock class, or where it puts me ... last time I ran in SM and well.... I'm wildly outclassed in that class. Yes I know read the rulebook, I did well I looked it over just not sure exactly about what it says/how to interpret it.

Chaos_cb7

Im dealing with the same problem. I know my catback and cai take me out of stock class but not really sure what class I will fall into now. not sure if my hyperflex kit and urethane motor mounts affect my class either. The rule book seems to be a little fuzzy on class placement.

Chaos_cb7

After some scanning I guess im in street touring as would you be with the strut bar.

L. Strut bars are permitted with all types of suspension. Strut bars
may be mounted only transversely across the car from upper
right to upper left suspension mounting point and from lower
right to lower left suspension mounting point. No other configuration
is permitted. Additional holes may be drilled for mounting
bolts. Only bolt-on attachment is permitted. Interior trim panels
may be modified to allow installation of strut bars. Holes or
slots may be no larger than necessary and may serve no other
purpose. This does not permit any modifications to the frame or
unibody beyond the allowed mounting holes.

The rule book tells you what you can do, if its not listed you can't do it.

Rusty you can't add a rear shock tower brace in stock class.

Chaos_cb7 - a CAI will automatically put you in STS, SM or SP. (A cat back exhaust does not affect your class change.) Your motor mounts will put you in SP as long as its attached in the factory location. What exactly is a hyperflex kit?

I recommend visiting SCCA's site and reading the rule book. If its not listed you CAN'T do it.

Well, I have the 06 rule book on my desktop and it says under ST class.

B. Suspension bushings may be replaced with bushings of any
materials (except metal) as long as they fit in the original location.
Offset bushings may be used. In a replacement bushing the
amount of metal relative to the amount of non-metallic material
may not be increased. This does not authorize a change in type
of bushing (for example ball and socket replacing a cylindrical
bushing), or use of a bushing with an angled hole whose direction
differs from that of the original bushing. If the Stock bushing
accommodated multi-axis motion via compliance of the
component material(s), the replacement bushing may not be
changed to accommodate such motion via a change in bushing
type, for example to a spherical bearing or similar component
involving internal moving parts. Pins or keys may be used to
prevent the rotation of alternate bushings, but may serve no
other purpose than that of retaining the bushing in the desired
position.

C. The air intake system up to, but not including, the engine inlet
may be modified or replaced. The engine inlet is the throttle
body, carburetor, compressor inlet, or intake manifold, whichever
comes first. The existing structure of the car may not be
modified for the passage of ducting from the air cleaner to the
engine inlet. Holes may be drilled for mounting. Emissions or
engine management components in the air intake system, such
as a PCV valve, or mass airflow sensor, may not be removed,
modified, or replaced, and must retain their original function
along the flow path.

H. Engine mounts may be replaced, but must attach in the factory
location(s) without additional modification or changes. Engine
position may not be changed. The volume of metal in a replacement
mount may not be increased relative to the volume of
metal found in a stock mount for the particular application. Solid
metal mounts are specifically prohibited. Any non-metallic inserts
may be used.

so according to the rule book im in ST not SP.

also hyperflex kit is energy suspensions kit that replaces all the front rubber bushings with urethane,

I realized it could be STS too... but then again that relevation came when I was on the road.

D'oh!!!

Run STS... more cars in that class anyway.

The only thing they might say something about it how I had to cut the hole in my body a little bigger to get the pipe to fit down in it. But im sure they will let me move the filter so its a short ram before I race so they don't bump me up from sts. I might just move it anyway its not like its going to get really hot out.

Just an update. The race is still on. Weather report for tomorrow actually looks good. Partly cloudy and cool with a high of 38 degrees in Belle, WV. Bring those jackets.

This should be a good AutoX. I imagine that there will be fewer people at this event since its cold. BUT that is a good thing as we'll probably have many runs and fun runs. I'll be more than happy to give fun runs to any movfaster. I highly recommend jumping in other people's cars to see the various racing lines.

See you all there!!!

I'd say bring the stickies.

Weather says it'll be cold but clear tomorrow. Since its the stock, SP, STS, etc guys that run first the track should be dry by the time SM hits.

I really freaking wanted to go down tonight, but the weather kinda played an evil hand. Got as far as Clarksburg before turning back, roads were too slushy and slippery to drive anything above 50.

I'm bringing stickies, hopefully it will turn out for the best. If not, it will be a valuable learning experience.

Almost time to start getting the car packed up!
