I'm finally getting some proper sticky rubber for AutoX.

I've been using well-used and abused Hoosier Cup tires that are made for endurnace road racing and now the step to actual AutoX tires is something I've been wanting to do for awhile. (I had a set of BFG R-1's on my 98RS and liked them very much)
While the Hoosiers were fine for awhile, they just couldn't get up to temperature until the very end of my run on a warm day due to their moderate rubber compound. However I do look forward to use the Hoosiers when I go to Virgina International Raceway at the end of April for a HPDE event.

The Kumho V710's (245/45/17) are known to be THE AutoX tire to get. I've only heard glowing reviews for fellow racers and very much look forward to the February AutoX event. To give you an idea of how sticky they are, they have a tread rating of 30. My Pirelli Pzero Nero have a tread rating of 400.
See here for more info on these tires: http://www.kumhousa.com/Products/PtnDet ... =PtnDetail (http://www.kumhousa.com/Products/PtnDetails.asp?mainCatID=1&PtnID=EV710&refAction=PtnDetail)

I just got the newly released T1 racing shoes made by Alpine Stars. They are guaranteed to drop my time by -.002, hehe. They fit great and will get a good workout at the AutoX and HPDE events this year.

Enjoy the pics!

I have a pair of Puma Repli Cats they are a very nice shoe also. Its kinda hard to believe but shoes can make a diffrence, pedal feel is a lot better in driving shoes.

Wow, new shoes for the car and for the driver... Street Mod is looking nastier by the day for the 2006 season.

The v710's I am familiar with, but your new driving shoeslook great. I checked out the link, but of course, they don't make them in size 15...

What's a fella got to do to get a decent driving shoe?

In any case, they both look great. I'm assuming that the V710's will have a bit more clearance than the hoosiers? perhaps you can lower the coilovers back down now?

Yeah, no kidding.. The car amazed me. Perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised, considering how roomy I always fond my Father's Geo Metro to be. Small cars like that always seem to be centered around the driver, which is nice.

The reason I'm so interested in the driving shoes is that the Mini has the tightest pedal setup I've ever driven with... being a size 15 wide shoe with a tight pedal setup, if I wear anything bigger than a pair of flat-footed skateboarder style shoes I'm stepping on two pedals at a time.

Right now, I'm wearing a super-worn pair of Vans Old Skool's that i've had for a VERY long time.. but they work perfectly. Great pedal feel, thin/gummy sole and a very narrow profile similar to a wrestling or driving shoe.
