well the 283 was crap, it was gutted, i needed all the brackets and accesseries. so i picked up a complete 350 for 50 bucks off my brother to rebuild. i tore it down and it looks like new, i'm sending the block and heads to napa, clean the block, hone it, new cam bearings and soft plugs, heads are just getting a clean up and basic valve job. i have my eyes on two cams: an isky ( makes power from 1500 to 6500) and an edelbrock (makes power from idle to 5500)
i'm getting the work done and i'm buying bearings, rings, and gaskets when i get paid in two weeks. i did pick up some nice wheels that are going on tonight :D

Sounds good man, not often we have an old-fashioned build on here, nice to see someone writing a little bit about it.
Last 350 I worked on went into a dirt track car, god, nothing beats the sound of an unmuffled smallblock

Once again I hope all goes well. As Liam said, it is nice to see a write up.

Which cam depends on what intake you are going to use. Pic the cam which is best suited in the rpm to the intake. If you have an intake that is designed for 2500-7500ect. you want a cam to match that.
You gona get the stuff to use a serpentine belt?

Look up nother auto parts the have a master rebuild kit for 150 Bucks includes eveything. Watch Napas work they kinda half ass stuff! I would take it to Gary smith he is half the price and the best in the aera. He can do all you machine work and your heads.
