My Brother and I race an 88 CRX Si 5 Speed at a local dirt track and would do great if the car would stop eating axels and tires.

The Setup

88 CRX Si Completely Stripped
Custom Rollcage
Aluminum Racing Seat
Stock d16a6
88 Integra 5 Speed ECU Redline @7500
Timing Advance to 21 Degrees
110 Octane Racing Fuel
Hacked Intake
195/60R14's up front, Right Front Tubed
175/70R13's on rear

Thats about it I believe
It runs like a raped ape, easily a top 3 car if we didnt keep blowin tires and destoying axels

Any suggestions on what else you Honda Peeps would do, they have to be basically stock with no mods visible to the eye.

Heres some pics

What about swapping the rear wheel with the front? Would increasing the wheel size increase the turning radius, maybe putting excess stress on the axle and related spindling?

Are you racing at skyline?

One of the cars my brother and I helped build has one multiple heats and features this year...

Fun stuff!

Wow....great fun, I wish I had extra money to compete in something like that.

When you say you are going through tires and axles, what does that mean exactly, besides the obvious.

The tires: bad camber? under/overinflated? Need a better grade tire?

Axles: literally breaking them in half, or the cv joints? They make higher grade axles also. B/c you said mods you can't see with the naked eye....

I need some more details.... 8)

First thing I'd do is put a wing on the rear for some crazy ass downforce. Putting the wing on the rear will lighten up the front tires and then you won't be blowing them near as much.

Why would you want the front end lighter on a circle track, especially since that's where the steering comes from (and in this case, drivetrain). I'd rather have the front end firmly planted on the track, and if anything, the rear end lightened to whip it around turns 1 and 3.

What tire size are you running, Are those stock 13's or 15's off another car?

If either the tire or the rim are bigger than you will need to adjust the camber so the tires are placed more toward where you want them. Though from here they look pretty in line and everything. You have to also remember that CRX's are not ment to be dirt track cars so you are going to run into strange problems that seem to have no real answers.

Got any CRX frames sitting around you don't need? In decent shape that is.
Rolling Chassis would be even better.

The teeth on the axles are getting all ate up and stripping. Or the half shaft as some would call it.

The passenger side did the same damn thing that the driver side did the previous week.

You should see the faces on the parts store guys when we take them back in because the have a lifetime warranty.

I think we are just going to run smaller tires with less tread because the current ones 195/65R14's I think are too meaty and wide and are causing the axles to strip when they grab the track after spinning out of a corner.

Last Night on the passenger side did the same damn thing.

I wonder if you can get any stronger axles for the CRX?

I think we have figured it out, I hope anyway.

We wont be running one next year, its gets pushed around the track too easily.

I dont have any CRX frames or rolling chassis sitting around, I have an 88 DX with 65k miles on the chassis with a blown motor.

My brother has a 89 DX CRX with 230k miles on it sitting in the garage. Its rough inside but the outside doesnt have any rust on it or major dings. Clutch is damn near out of it. I can talk to him and see if he wants to sell it.
