View Full Version : Boosted b16 prob ~ ideas?
Ok here's the deal..
Drag gen 3 turbo kit, the turbo itself decided for some reason to implode. When it did, im assuming the motor sucked in some of the fragments that it put off. It's runnin on like 2 cylinders now it seems. Wonder what the odds are it just maybe bent a few valves ect. instead of royally screwing anything else? :(
There's an assload of $ in the head.. dont even wana think bout replacing it all. But with my luck it wiped out at least a piston or two, maybe bent a rod lol.
Guess once the head is off I'll find out.

Ouch, that sucks, in this case it all depends on luck, and how long the motor ran after the turbo went out, good luck and hope it turns out to be as "minor" as something like this can be.

I am going to bet if the turbo exploded it sent parts in the head and screwed the valves.

toss up, pull the head and see
best case = just valves, worst case = jacked pistons too
was the kit used? how long had it been running? Compressor wheel break or what? you didn't have internals did you? what all was in the head? was this some super secret build you weren't going to tell us about?
good luck man, let us know how it goes :(

was this setup Intercooled?
If so, the intercooler (should) stop the majority of debris.
i had a turbo eat a dikc once, and the intercooler stopped everything.
sucks!
