*UPDATE EDIT - Things appear to be straightened out for this weekend so Sunday is good to go.*
You all know who you are! If you think you're the greatest, come out and prove it at the August 15th SCCA SOLO II autocross in Belle, WV.
Who can go?
Anyone of you as long as your car is in good running condition and safe! Do your brakes work EVERY time you hit the pedal? Are all your lug studs and nuts attached? Does your car NOT barf oil all the time? Are your tires NOT bald? If you answered yes then you can MOST LIKELY run a SOLO II event.
What to bring:
Yourself without a hangover
Your car (in safe operating condition)
Sunscreen
Water
$20 for entry fee
$10 for car number rental
$10-30 for gas and food
Cool comfortable clothing
FRS Radio (for convoying)
Misc tools if you think you'll need them
Tire pressure gage
Helmet (Snell or DOT approved, 95 and newer - if you don't have one, you can borrow one of the region's helmets)
How to get there:
Take I-77 south through Charleston. Go ~10 miles past Charleston on I-77and exit at the CHELYAN(SP) exit. Go down the ramp and across the bridge to the light. Turn left at the light onto the 4 lane road. Go down the hill, through the first light, up the next hill and turn left at the second light. Go straight across the bridge and RIVERSIDE HS will be in front of you. You will be able to see the parking lot from there. Approximate distance from the 7th street P-burg exit is 90 miles. Travel time is approx. 1.5 hours @ ~70 mph.
Alternative method to travel:
Meet Robbie, Davis and myself at the Mineral Wells Rest Area between 8:15 and 8:30 am. We roll out promptly at 8:30. If your coming but aren't running on time, it is your responsibility to call one of us and/or get yourself to the event.
Be prepared to be hot and uncomfortable, stand in the sun for hours on end and do poorly the first couple times out (unless you have an EVO or something equivalent.) Also be prepared to meet many people with similiar car interests, see lots of fast expensive cars getting abused and some wild drivers. All-in-all a good time.
Any Questions?

I'm there! Leaving Kurt's house at 8:00am from Marietta. WE'll be at Mineral Wells stop at 8:20-ish. Radio channel 5-5. I'm brining my brother in-law so I do not have any passenger room, sorry.
It would be great if we would have a bunch of MovFast guys racing or at least watching.

Easier said than done. I have to remove the whole hub assembly and have it pressed apart. Then I can remove the studs......

Oh I am. I will be ready for the auto-x in Charleston. Lug studs fixed and a tire alignment.
I wouldn't be able to make it this Sunday anyway, b/c I am going to be in the annual softball game.
Vienna Police Dept. vs Vienna Fire Dept. vs. Public Works Dept.
Triple Header.....
It starts @ 1:00 @ the ball fields on Rosemar if anyone is interested in watching....
Should be good fun

Is it still $20 just to spectate? And any idea on length of event (estimated)?

No, you can watch for free so long as you sign the safety wavier(sp).
The event may be a no go for this weekend; we should know by tomorrow.

Ok, I might make the trip, then, if it's a go. I just don't like to be out late on a Sunday evening.

Well, its not tomorrow yet, but it is very likely that this weekends event will be a no go. However, as I said earlier today, we won't know until tomorrow.

There was discussion of the charity auto-x date, but it was never set. There currently is only 1 event per month scheduled.

Yes, tomorrow (Friday 13th) will be the answer.
One of the chapter senior members met with the principal and provided all the legal documents and some explanation of the SCCA.
fingers crossed....
