I will be going down to the drag strip this thursday...and i will have a couple of cars going with me (probably two or three)...if anyone is interested plz let me know...cause i am meeting everyone else at the mineral wells rest stop at 4pm-4:25pm (we leave at 4:30). This event was awsome last time with many fast imports and lots of muscle cars to beat up on :lol: There was everything to a white and black STi to SVT Cobra's to Honda civic Si's with turbos :roll: neway let me know if ne one is interested.... 8)

I was reffering to you adam and ur turbo Si...thats why i had --> :roll: i was j/k neway as far as money is concerned there is the typical gas money and then $10 to get in and race (to spectate or to race are both still $10)....

If the weather holds out, and my car quits acting up....I will tear into it and take a look @ my o2 sensor and spark plugs...running to rich tends to cake them with carbon quicker....

It looks like down @ the dragstrip its rained early around 5am then its going to clear up for the rest of the day...weather.com says AM Thunderstorms and partly cloudy the rest of the day...so i think we will be ok! :D

Ive been watching the weather channel @ work and it looks like clear sailing the rest of the day :D ....Oh yeh and the "Queen of Diamonds" will be there tonight (its a Jet Dragster)...it will make two passes, 8pm and 9:30pm...It says on the website that there will be "street legal cars" tonight ... THATS ME!

Well overall the night was pretty good. Decent weather, a little humid for my liking but @ least it didn't rain.

My results were far less than expected. Evidently gutting the back half of my car did in fact result in a +2 mph trap speed. The best I accomplished last night was a 78mph compared to my 80mph last time.

I was more concerned with my launching and 60ft times this go around than my overall time. B/c working on the launching is the entire race, assuming I don't misshift or something. I was happy with my reaction times and I completly stopped the wheel hop. Although my tires spun to much, so I will have to deal with that next time around. My best of the night was a 9.2. Blah blah...


Jeremy in my opinion was the best of the night. With I believe a 10.3. I felt that was a great time for him, on almost stock tires. Great driving and great job Jeremy.

Jordan went a best of 8.5 @ 82mph. He opted to run race gas this time @ 112 octane. I ran him many times before and would catch him @ the end of the 8th. This time I was unable to reel him in, which I contribute to the higher octane. Him and his car were strong that night.


The main event was a jet powered drag car driven by a HOT 21 yr old girl. Go figure. Amazing, she ran twice and her best was a 3.x @ 205mph....!!! :shock: :shock:

All I can say is LOUD. The loudest thing I have ever heard. Cool experience, glad I was there.

Next is to have my car tuned, with some slicks for spring time....

Funny you said that, a guy that was there and I heard him talking about how he has been to many drag/nascar/top fuel events, and he said that is the loudest thing he has ever heard. 8)

jet cars are loud but more in a higher pitched thing the Top fuel guys are loud and they rip your insides out like a thousand bass drums. The loudest I have ever heard though was a Nascar race at Bristol but thats like 42 cars.

I agree Dave, the jet cars are loud, but I also think the Top Fuel cars are louder, and FASTER. The Jet-Semi Truck is pretty neat tho, rocking back & forth as it alternates shooting flames out its stacks. I remember that nite well, my dad won the night under fire in '97 in the PRO class, now he's Super-Pro.

i haven't heard nascar races or anything like that but i would have to say the jet was the loudest thing i have ever heard also. It was so loud when i videotaped it i was screaming into the mic on the camera and u can barely hear what i was saying...........

I think funny cars are almost as fast if not faster, cuz i know the newest record on speed is 336, which was done by a funny car. 336 MPH in a 1/4 mile...hmmph, pretty slow.

We are talking 3 seconds and 205 mph in the 8th mile.....I would say thats quick..... 8)

Sorry to go slightly off-topic here...
But on the interest of loud.

I've heard 40+ Nascar cars at Martinsville and that was very loud. Headphones a must.

I've stood right next to a F3 car in testing at idle....OMG! Almost went totally deaf

I've seen F1 cars at the USGP and that was by far the loudest, most "screaming" cyclinder engine (V10 18,000+rpms) I've ever heard. Instant migraine w/o headphones.

However a jet engine is like no other. I've been up close to Harrier jets at a hover, and they will make your fillings rattle if not jump outta your head. I can only imagine what the drag car was like.

I guess I'm saying is that various types of engines will destroy your hearing. But the fact that it makes something goes fast is a usually what distracts me..pure speed.

Anyone know where we can get a ride in that F1 2 seater:)

I still think my dads challenger is loud, standing next to it idling makes my chest hurt & shake. Its just amazing that the engines in the topfuel/funny cars are done after 1 race due to the fuel they use. That's like $12,000 down the drain no matter what win or lose.
