My indigo gauges came with a momentary switch that turns them on. When you touch the two wires together, they come on, but when you stop em from touching, the gauges stay on. I have the power wired to my dimmer switch, so i was wondering how or if there was a relay i could use in place of the switch so that my gauges will come on when the dimmer switch is activated.
I'd have them come on when the parking lights come on.
I buoght a set for my ex a few years back an while I was at work the neighbor kid next door hooked them up for her. He had it hooked to the dimmer which she never had turned up all the way thus resulting in a loss of voltage going to them an the thing fried. Im not sure if it's because of the dimmer or if it was just a bunk set. Either way the next set I hooked up direct an it worked fine. You never know tho these things are made by 7y olds who live on 3 grains of rice a day an work in a closet.

Remove the switch that you have to press to turn them on, and tap in the the relay that kicks in when your put your key in the "start" position. That way they get power when the lights are on, and they get the momentary "Turn On" power when you start the vehicle.

well, i got the power for the gauges wired to the dimmer switch (via the radio) so that when you do press the switch if the headlights are off, they wont come on. When you turn on the headlights, you have to press the switch to turn on the indigo gauges. I want to bypass the step where I have to press the indigo gauges switch. The plug for the switch has two contacts. You press the contacts together, they come on, you let go of the contacts, the gauges stay on. It did come with a box that is what im guessin now is just a relay. The box has 2 wires going to the gauges wiring harness, 2 for power (pos and neg) and 2 for the switch.
