No word on the Srt's. I know of one that is @ the Vienna Walmart that is driven by an older gentleman and is red in color. I will keep my ears and eyes peeled though...would like to line up against one.... 8)
As far as the Beemer goes. are you speaking about the one with wheels...it looks clean...is it an M3? 8)

I am pretty sure that the BMW isnt an M3 because I have a friend who knows almost everything there is to know about BMW's and he seems to undoubtably think that it looks to be a 330Ci...but who knows...i'd like to see whats under the hood though...i dont really like the paint job on it and i dont like how he stripped the propeller symbols off the car....

The engine isn't really a domestic. It's really Mexican.
In stock form, an Evo can take an SRT4... at anything. Anything other than a drag strip and the Evo will tear any SRT4 up that has similar mods.
Not trying to start an internet argument. Just stating facts. I really like the SRT4s. I tried to get my wife to buy one. I just hate the "my 20K car can beat your 30k car" thing. In a drag race, with light mods, it can. Put them in the rain, on a track, autocross, snow, etc. and its a totally different story.
So, get those Mexican cars on the forums.

The better car is in fact as we all know the Evo. But I beleive the better buy would be the Srt-4. In stock form, the Evo would pull away from a roll. From a dig, the Evo would gain carlenghts. No of course if modded it would be close but thats obvious. If the Evo was modded, same conclusion.

I wish Subaru (and Mitsu) had factory support on aftermarket stage kits. Way to go Mopar!
Those Mopar kits are pretty cool considering most of it is under warranty and not so $$.
However, when does a FWD car become not streetable when you get over 250hp to the fronts?? Whenever I've driven higher horsepower cars that are FWD, I get terrible torque steer (which i hate) and very little grip. Just sit and spin and wheel hop.
I'm trying to picture the SRT-4 with the Stage 3 kit and 300hp. I imagine that if you want a "spirted" take off (not redline dump thou) that it would be difficult without spinning a bunch and causing lots of "looks".
Heck, I've spun all 4 wheels in my Sti at a 5000 rpm launch on dry tarmac. (only spun for a little bit thou  )
Hope a SRT-4 owner shows up on the board. Be fun to see one and get their opinion on its performance and aftermarket stuff.

It was sorta common knowledge. One of the first manufacters to do this. I will find some hard evidence to back up my claims though.
AS for launching a 300+whp Fwd vehicle. I never said it would be easy Mr. AWD...lol. Practice,Practice,Practice,Practice,Practice, a good clutch, motor mounts and the factory lsd help out tremendously. With that much available torque it would be very tricky to say the least.... 8)

1 Blue SRT4... CHECK
I met the older gentlemen and talked to him about his car. He used to go the Kanawha Valley Dragway alot to race his Mustang. He has a bigger swaybar on the car and wants to get a cat or turbo back exhaust. He does want the exhaust to be quite. He seemed like a nice guy. He liked my seats, wing and color choice. I gave him a movFast.com business card and told him a little about our group.

What he wants mufflers on it? It doesnt come with mufflers from the factory. He could go with larger piping, but thats not gonna be quiet. The only thing going for him is its a turbo so that quiets the exhaust a little :) .

Well, there's a hp difference. I believe the SRT-4 has something like 230hp. The EVO has 273 (?) and the Sti has 300. The Evo and the Sti have way more torque. (STi has 300 pounds of torque, can't remember what the EVO has..but its good)
Torque is really what gets you out of the hole quicker. Personally I'd rather have a car with only 200 hp, but 350+ pounds of torque! (unfortunately, they don't really exist)
Torque example. The Subaru World rally car has 300 hp. (yes, the same as mine) HOWEVER, it has something like 500 pounds of torque plus a very unique anti-lag management system that is extremely efficent and provides insane acceleration.
I bring up this torque thing because it is what would really help the EVO and STi beat the SRT-4 in accleration and 1/4. (equal drivers on stock cars) Of course the AWD would give it a great jump off the line.
FYI: huge horsepower is really good on certain things such as top speed and sometimes 1/4 if you can get the traction down. That's why many V8's are perfect for 1/4.
The SRT-4 has a lot of power for the money. That's really what makes it a fun car. However, what usually happens is that a FWD car with that much power has alot of torque steer. (pulls the steering to one side or center when under power in a staright line or turns) It is something that I really don't like as you have to fight the wheel in order for it to do something. I really need to go test drive one to get the facts down thou.
Gear ratios also play a good part in accleration. The STi has shorter gears (6spd) compared to the EVO (5 spd). There is a give in take in having shorter rations.
Good: keeps power in powerband more
Good: can have great accleration if done properly
Bad: need to shift alot
Bad: tricky 0-60 time if not done properly
I really do not know much about the SRT-4's ratios. Once again, a test drive would help sort it out:)

i have a video of an SRT-4 eating up and RSX and a mustang cobra, he took the cobra by a half a car, and the RSX by 2 cars, and they will beat an EVO too!!!
there is a blue EVO that is owned by Jacob Welch, he lives on Rayon Drive beside my grandma, that car is never driven, it is garage kept but I was there to witness that car in it's best form going about 100 mph and it got there quick!!!
why pay $25,000-$50,000 for a V8 when you can pay $20,000 and put $5,000 more into it and roast most every car around here or anywhere else for that matter
$20,000 vs $35,000 you make the choice

Must compare apples to apples. Many modded cars will be beat many other stock cars. Driver ability comes into play too.
Along your same theory...take a $30K Sti or EVO. Add $20K into it. You'll have a car that will destroy nearly any production car made that cost 3x what you just put into your modded Sti or EVO.
I like to compare stock cars to other stock cars. Like I said above the SRT-4 is a good bang for the buck.

If I had the choice of receiving one of those cars for free, I would choose the STi first for it's low-end torque and (assuming) better reliability, not to mention the sound of a boxer engine. Second would be the EVO, even though it usually beats the STi in every test I've read. I love them, but I think the STi is a better investment. If I got an EVO I'd be weary of Mitsu's tactics on voiding warranties, but I'd probably end up with a Vishnu ECU and turbo-back exhaust. Third would be the SRT. Why third? Because they're free, and that's a 10K difference. For only 2/3 the cost of the others, you can have a very good base to start with...hell, it's a good car without mods lol. The new ones have a LSD. I have seen video after video of cars getting walked by SRT's. There is a huge SRT vs EVO war, and from what I've seen the SRT's are doing quite well, granted it's usually in a straight line from a roll. I have seen them win from dead stops, too, though the EVO killed him on launch...but honestly, how many times can you really drop the clutch at 5000 RPM's without tearing something up? Mitsu voids warranties for doing so, too. The SRT's low-end torque and very minimal turbo lag are very nice. In closing, I must say that I hope to have AWD in my next car, but I hope it doesn't cost $30,000 just to get a fast AWD car. One thing I forgot to mention about the STi: I hate Variable Valv Timing. I don't mean to sound redneck, but a Vette Z06 has 405 HP and 5.7L displacement, and gobs of low-end torque, and still gets 28 MPG on the highway, which is better than the EVO or the STi I believe. I just find it funny how all of these copanies think they need 80 valve 6 cam 1.4L 4 cylinders with turbos and VVT, which all equal to expensive research costs, to achieve high power and gas mileage. My fiancee's old V6 Alero got 32 MPG on the highway with 170HP and 200 lb.ft. stock (the 32 MPG was recorded with exhaust and intake) with a 3.4L pushrod V6. She has a 4 cyl. Alero now and it gets like 29 or 30 highway with 2.4L, two cams, 16 valves, and a measly 150 hp and 155 lb.ft.

I had to add something--> "03 Vishnu EVO $36923" .... ok lets say that you buy a new ZO6 in 2004 for $55,000. 37,000 - 55,000 = 18,000 (thats quite a bit of difference) ... ive got a friend that bought his evo for 30,000 + 25,000 (mods) = 55,000 ... the ZO6 ($55,000) has 405 hp stock and the evo ($55,000) has 600whp (no nos)...now i know that horsepower isnt the only additive to make a good race car...so the evo's suspension was also upgraded along with the tires and other goodies... now I would pit these two equally priced cars against each other and see what happens. Until then im not convinced that the ZO6 is a better car...however i will admit that "stock" the ZO6 could hand it to the evo...however i feel that there needs to be some compensation for the amount of money that is spent on the ZO6...neway juss my thoughts
