It looks alright, but I'll never own another Civic again. I've read enough bad things about them after I researched mine a little bit. The transmissions = crap.

Civic's were reliable alot because they are simple. Up to what, 02? they are all pretty basic. VTEC was the most advanced technilogical thing on the motors. The more complicated yuo make things the more problems you will have.

My civic is a 98 LX. Its complete junk. The automatic door locks don't work and the transmission goes out before 100,000 miles. It hasn't been raced or run particularly hard, just commuting to class mostly.

I would say yours is an exception. I've owned a lot of Honda's over the years and I've had no major problems with them. I've personally never had an engine or transmission fail in one. At this point I've had 5 CRX's (86,88,89,90,91), 2 EG's (both 93s), 1 EK (97), one Prelude (92) and one CBR (95).

The Prelude was an automatic Si and it's engine did fail...at 192,000 miles. That was 10,000 miles AFTER the car was completely submerged in a flood.

Given that I can usually find an automatic in 4 out of 5 originally equiped automatic Hondas in the junkyard, I don't get the feeling that pass away that often.

Did you get the automatic replaced in yours?

Not yet. I'm trying to find one thats not outrageously priced or over 80k miles.
