Anyone have a throw, underhood shifter bushings, shifter plate bushings, etc?
I have underhood steels and i can tell a little diff. I know the throw will be a big diff. And ive heard the shifter plate steels will make a big diff... so anyone tell me what they think

I haven't had experience with the shifter bushings themselves (heard it is a decent upgrade) but I have installed a quick shift kit on my RS and it made a huge difference.

Short, tight quick throws made it feel like I was driving a shifter kart. Sometimes bushings can be fairly expensive, and a shift kit would be just a little more, so you may want to look at the whole thing instead of the pieces.

Well I installed the plate bushings in my talon. I didn't notice a whole lot of difference except that the stopping point of your shift seems extremely more solid. It defines the gears a little more so in theory misshifts should be less. I got mine for like 12 bucks so i said why not.

I don't know what any of this means. My shifter is on the transmission. Someone care to explain all of these bushings/plates to me?

Justins bushings were different than mine. I upgraded mine for approx $12 bucks also. His shifter attaches to a steel plate mounted on the floor. He had 4 rubber bushings that made the shifter more solid. My car has the actual shifter go throw the floor and hinges underneath. I replaced one were it mounted underneath and one were it mounted onto the actual transmission.

Basically what I am trying to say is that when you buy the "kit" for your car, you will see what comes with it....

I think I know what you mean. You see, my shifter just sits on a ball, which sits between two plastic bushings, with a little nipple to control the shift forkery inside the gearbox. None of that FWD tomfoolery here.
My brother's car, a Talon, does have all that weird FWD stuff and I've found that it's much easier to lower the knob on the shaft than to fuss with bushings and what not.

Yeah well i didnt know if i should buy the whole plate kit.. the short throw i really want.. but if any of u guys need a cheap mod.. Take skateboard bearings and use them for underhood.. it works just as good :D
