Do folks still meet at Applebees in Vienna on Thursday nights? Do folks from here ever go to Kan. Valley 1/8 mile track? I'm finally getting my car back from the shop Friday. I need to put some miles on the new engine so I can get it tuned.

Yeah, people still meet...sometimes there's a good crowd, sometimes there's 2 people. I'd def like to check your car out...let me know when you're going to go.

I may get a chance to come out next Thursday. The car is far from finished as I had to get a light kit to allow for the new intercooling piping, get some instruments working and a tune. I'll need to get those lights installed before I get out at night. I'll need to put about 1000 to 1500 miles on before I can turn up the boost. I did get to hear the car run and it sounds pretty mean....much like an F-1 car...def different than any rotary I've ever heard. It should be a treat to drive...I can't wait.
Davis, I'll shoot you an email so we can do lunch sometime. Things have been pretty hectic at work lately.

It should be pretty strong. I don't know if I want to float any numbers out until I can get it tuned. I just drove it home from Columbus today...and got pulled over for no tag on the front...only a warning! If I can find my front tag, I might drive it to the 1/8 mile track Thursday. I need to put miles on the engine.

I cant wait to see this car!! I have always been a fan of the bubble body rx-7s and the power they are capable of making.. Are you gonna post dyno results on here? im sure most of us would love to see them.

I got a head light rigged up so I'm pretty sure I'm going to Kanawha Valley tomorrow. Probably leave around 5 or 5:30. Is anyone else going? I don't know about the dyno numbers.... The numbers probably won't stay a secret regardless. I'll have it tuned at RX-7 store and they will probably want to post the numbers since it is the first 3 rotor they have done. I told them I would let them use my car to help them get business. So, I'll probaby post them.

Maybe I'm showing my ignorance of the Mazda lineup, however I was under the impression that all the RX-7's had a 3 lobe rotor... Which leads me to question the "RX-7" store doing their "First 3 lobe" To me that's like saying I'll have my 2JZ-GTTE tuned at the Supra shop, it's the first 2J they've done.

No big deal on being ignorant on rotary engines. They aren't the mainstream. I wouldn't feel comfortable building one, yet. The stock engine in all American RX-7's and I guess all American rotaries are what you would call a 2 rotor engine. They have 2 rotors, either a 12a or a 13b motor. You are correct in that each rotor has 3 sides kind of like a triangle with the sides bulging out. However, this engine has 3 rotors, a 20b. They were the stock engine in the Mazda Cosmos sold in Japan. I is almost like the engines are modular ( an oversimplification though)....add another rotor and extend the crankshaft. They even have a 4 rotor engine

the best description i ever got of a rotory to put it in perspective is to picture putting doritos on a stick and spinning them... simple, yet i could picture it.

that's the funnies and yet most accurate description iv ever head but i always liked watching Bill at Larry Simmons work on those. Interesting to just look at how those things work

Sorry to go OT on this.. But I passed a Silver RX7 with Ohio plates heading north on I77 near Mineral Wells this evening at around 9:30... Just wondering if that was you, Bobby.

If so, it was my wife and I heading home from shopping in Charleston. I was in the gray Mazdaspeed 6.

And thanks.. She saw me staring at the car and asked me what it was, then proceeded to ask what a rotary engine was and I spent the next 15 minutes describing it to her. Now I wish I had just used the "Dorito on a Stick" explanation. :D

Yes, that was me. And I remember the Mazdaspeed 6 also. I think that is a great looking car. I drove to Charleston and turned around to head back. I'm just trying to get miles on the engine. I'm shooting to have the 1000 miles on the engine by this weekend so I can get it tuned.

I stopped by 2 weeks ago and there were 4-5 cars. I stopped by last week and it looked like a group was going in Applesbees to eat. I didn't go in. I'm not a regular so we'll have to wait for a few other replies.

Yeah, we still get together at Applebees on Thursdays...since it has been getting colder we usually go in and have something to eat (and support the place.)

Couple weeks ago (I think the night Bobby showed up) quite a few people were gathered over at Circuit City. Last week we were inside most of the evening.

I heard some honking but I thought it was at the people advertising Pizza (or something) on the side of the road. Davis has a really cool car.

I have a late night (8pm) mtg at the plant and cannot make it Thursday.
