Well that certainly sucks. I hope your source is wrong for a change...(nothing personal.)
We've lost too many good jobs around this area; if we keep losing them at the rate we have been of late it won't be long before we're all unemployed...McD's just doesn't function real well when nobody has money to buy the burgers.
Let's see, of late we've lost ACE hardware manufacturing in P-burg, Aerolite and Kardex in Marietta...I'm sure I've missed others...
Hmm.. few of my friends work there, an 1 of my friends just got hired on there about 4wk's ago.. Ive heard nada bout it closing down, an it seems highly unlikely, however in this town anything is possible.

It was confirmed on WTAP news at 6PM tonight... Walker Systems IS shutting down.. They will be moving most of the work done by this plant to their 3 remaining plants... One was in connecticut, one in mexico, and I don't recall where the third was located.

This is terrible. Another company that is "moving".
I interviewed 8 people a few weeks ago for a QC job opening at our company. They all had the same story...."I worked for company ABC for 20+ years, have lots of experience, can do many varied jobs, tons of qualifications, but now company ABC that I have worked so hard at has shut down or moved away." It was really depressing.
I wish we could have hired all 8 of them (I went thru 100+ applications) but unfortunately there was only 1 opening :(
You read about this nearly everyday in the paper, but it really hurts when you now see family and friends having to look for another job in this area when it is very difficult to find a good paying job.
Jamie (and others looking for a job), I wish you well and hope you will find something soon.
Truly,
