View Full Version : Stock LS1 heads ~ Port them?
LS1 heads are going for next to nothing these days..
Im just wondering if it's worth it to pick up a pair and have an extensive port job done, or buy Patriots?
They will prob never see my WS6, but they will see my next GM vehicle.. so I could have them done and set them in the garage until that day comes.

I guess you can get more compression.
Well after speaking to 2 dif places recomended by LS1tech on a bone stock LS1 they can take your stock heads and do "their thing" and you will gain 42-45hp and 30-35lbs of tq.
That's using stock size valves, with a stock cam, stock exhaust, and no tune.
Sooo..
Larger cam = moves more air
Supporting mods = allows air in/out faster
However look at it this way;
After their charge for head work, plus shipping, I could throw down about $200 give or take extra and have patriot heads, which makes having the stockers worked over not make a whole lot of sense..
I'll have to do some more looking into it.
