Before releasing the final numbers, I would like to say thanks to everyone that went, we had a BLAST.
Jason
Josh
Jordan
Justin
We had a great time, learned alot, and saw some kicka$$ cars to boot.
The place: http://collettimotorsports.com
Owner: Steve Colletti.
Assistant: Greg.
Dyno: DynoJet Dynometer. http://www.dynojet.com
Location: Chesterville, Oh.
Facility Size: 3,000 sq ft ---> moving into a 5,000 sq ft in the next few weeks.
Glad to meet them, very knowledgable and good guys. They helped us both out and even went out of there way to get us squared away and taken care of. I have aproxx. 1 hr of footage, thanks to Jordan the cameraman extraordinaire. I would like to get some up on the net, but until then, anyone that wants to take a look, let me know and we can get together to watch it....or have a little movFast getogether....let me know.
He has a decent sized shop with 2 lifts that allow a car to be held in place, while another is parked below it. They do alot of Acura Racing, hence the many Type R's and Rsx's. Among the standouts were a N/a Type R with NO internal work that was putting 195hp to the ground. A 600+ Plus Supra, and a turbo Miata and a turbo Vw.
We arrived there around 11:00 and watched an Ls/Gsr Head teg with a t3/t4 make 163whp. He was running real lean uptop so they stopped the session and recomended a tuning device and some bigger injectors along with a better flowing fuel pump. Clean car, nice guy. Steve said that with the proper tuning and right equipment he would easily be over 200+.
Next up was Jason, they strapped it down, hooked up the wires; tach, wideband, etc and started it off. Real quick they saw his car was running DANGEROUSLY LEAN @ 17.1. It took several hours to track down the problem. He had installed a Vafc, that was bumping heads with his Jackson Racing Supercharging piggyback and was confusing the Ecu from reading the Map signal. So after removing the Vafc, and setting it back to Jackson Racing Standards, it started to run near the 12.1 a/f where it should be. After several runs and switching out for new plugs b/c his old ones were covered in soot, he pulled off a best of 206 whp and 153 ft lb of torque. This was on the 8lb pulley. He is still running his stock cat also.
Meanwhile, in the 4 hours that it took to complete Jason's car, I found not 1, but many cracks on my manifold. So I borrowed some tools and we began to take off the turbo manifold, downpipe, oil feed and return, intercooler piping and finally seperate the turbo from the manifold so Steve could repair it via welding. In the process we actually broke one of the downpipe bolts, which @ the time I didn't think was a big deal, b/c it was after the turbo. Hmm..little did I know...
After a pizza break @ the shop we had the newly repaired manifold back in place on the car. Turned it on, and it seemed like it had a worse exhuast leak than before with the cracks. We double checked the bolts and assumed it was coming from the broken bolt on the downpipe flange. We pulled it on the dyno set it up and did our first run. We continued to do a few more runs, but were unable to pinpoint my exact A/f b/c of the exhuast leak. The leak was before the o2 sensor and was causing the sensor to read inaccurate. So we were forced to do a run, watch the graph and adjust fuel accordinaly. Once I have ALL my leaks taken care of he can adjust my A/f precisly along with my timing which will give me a decent improvement. I ended up with 192 whp and 153 ft lb of torque @ 8psi. The pulls were made in 4th gear for a more conservative (safe) tune. I had a small fan blowing on my intercooler but nothing as to compared to driving down the road @ 50 mph. So during the tuning process my intercooler was basically being un-used.
The car seems to still be runnning rich, but not as rich as it was. Gas milage is up and it has a more steady pull than before. My torque curve is very linear, almost like a supercharged vehicle would show. I will try soon to post up the graph for a better illustration.
Jason-Josh-Justin-Jordan, post up your point of views....
In the future if anyone has ANY TUNING to do, I am sure they will say the same, but I would recommend Steve @ Colletti Motorsports.

Extremely informative thread. good numbers too for the 14b.

From what I've read everywhere... welded tbular manifolds WILL crack... when... it's just a matter of time. That's why Bushur racing makes a cast manifold for the Evo. While tubulars are nice and work well when not cracked... they will eventually fail. Glad you guys had a good time!

woohoo I win I called it correct. Oh and as for Jasons car I think most people use the Hondata with the JRSC.

Cool stuff Adam.
You are doing the 100% correct thing...going to a dyno to properly setup your car.
Many people it seems like to spend $1000's in "upgrading" their car but don't take it to a dyno. Sometimes even "tuners" say that they make your car 200, 300, 400 hp but do not use a dyno to prove and test....bad bad.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing the dynograph. Glad to hear you took it to a great tuner and dyno...seems like he knows what he is doing too.
Hope you get your manifold fixed/replaced. Don't get discouraged, this is only the beginning in increasing your HP level:)
Let me know if you need some video help. Hopefully things get back to normal someday after these floods...

Well I think the cracking is mostly from not having a flex pipe in my exhuast setup. I also need to have the turbo braced agaisn't the block.
Wheel hop, no flex pipe and all the weight of the turbo+some exhuast components contributed to an early demise. Its fixed now....so once I get more support it should be ok.
Weird b/c I haven't heard of any tubular manifolds for Honda's cracking prematurly.... 8)

I did forget that we all stopped off @ the Steak and Shake. Good food with some thick shakes...lol....
I have some work to get it were I wanted...I am ~20hp shy of where I wanted the hp levels to be, but am very imprssed with the amount of torque that I was putting down, so its a trade off.
Once the leaks are fixed, I am sure he could squeeze another 20 hp out somehwere for me..... 8)

I had a great time (glad i didnt hang out w/my x instead!) neway great time at the dyno..That place was awsome, I could have hung out there for quite a bit longer. Everyone there was really cool and even the people that stopped in during the day seemed to be very friendly. I tried to do my best with the camera work, but Adam was soooo strict about the different angles and stuff  but it was the best i could do. All the cars at the shop were very unique in their own way, the supra looked cool at first then once we figured out that it was poorly put together :? it didnt reallly attract too much attention. Steak and Shake was good except it did a number on me :( but Adam can suck a milkshake better than ne girl ive met  and those were more like gallons of ice cream with straws in them...oh yeh and Jason needs to chill out bout getting the @#$$ chilli!!!!!!
I think that we need to get the video done then we need to have a viewing @ someones house...You havent lived untill you've seen two cars hit the rev limiter 20 times in the matter of a couple hours. (ive still got superchargers, and turbos ringing in my ears)

Thats what I always heard but the guys up there seemed to think what I had done was enough...I even asked about buying the aem computer for my car...all the owner said was he could tune a little better with it and not get enough power from it, for it to be worth the 1200 bucks they cost...my air/fuel was 12:1...which they said was pretty much perfect...but 206 and 162 were not bad numbers IMO anyway....and that was with the car reading around 6.5 lbs on the boost gauge...JR says my pulley is an 8lb, but I would not agree with that...
but adams car had lower numbers, sure to do with the exhaust leak, and the fact his intercooler was not really helping him o nthe dyno like it should, and does going 60mph on the interstate...
we had a couple runs on the way home....he said he went straight to 3rd....i went 4th then to 3rd (dont know if I really lose any power going about it that way), shifted right before 6.5 in 3rd......we had maybe one other good run....but it was alot of fun the whole trip in general....his car does seem to have more pull then mine....
but I dont really know that he walked all over me...or would as he described on another website.... :?:

yeah i had a lot of fun , other than being extremely tired from staying up and putting the apexi on friday and getting up at 5am. i woke right up when we got there and saw all the awsome cars, the guy with the ls vtec with the t3/t4 turbo showed extreme potential. that civic hatch and the crx that pulled in both had b16 swaps. the vw with the turbo was extremely clean and i dont even like vw's,they dont have capabilities for all wheel dyno, but he did say it was a possibility for the new building. steve was a hell of guy, only 56 year old i know that i could just sit down and talk honda and acura with for 40 min. and listen to his story of some guy on his race team who had a supercharged viper that could spin the tires on the dyno!!! although hacked up the supra was cool, it had a HKS thottle body on it i could stick my head in. like adam said if they had some topless dancers in there i would have prolly never left. it was great getting to know everyone, even though i did snap that bolt off one the exhaust flange on Adams Si. didnt make since, it wasnt that hot and that bolt wouldnt turn. love the car though man, makes me miss mine. Steak & Shake was fun, did manage to p**s off the waitress though. Adam drank that milkshake like he had some experience, she had to be watching us laughing trying to drink those things, there was nothing milky about it, that was just icecream in a glass with a straw. well thats it for now.

The one I saw tested on Spike a few weeks ago (Horsepower TV) was only $300-350, and they got almost 60HP out of 15 minutes worth of button pushing. Even if you only got 15-20HP from it's electrical tuning, that's still only around $20/HP, and much less if you use it on more than one car (like, I'm sure the same computer would work for Hondas and Acuras).

if you can find me a aem ems for 350...i will buy 10 of them...my cost on one from an aem dealer is like 1100

I haven't seen a true Aem Ems for less than 1000k dollars. Put me down for 10 also if you can get them for treefifty....
As for "walking all over you" . I was truly surprised that that I pulled that easily. I just went from 5th--->3rd and gunned it. (Robbie b4 you say we were racing...we never broke the speed limit...just slowed way down). I just figured like you said that my intercooler on the dyno wasn't living up to its full potential like it would be on the street. So I am assuming that made the difference.
Jason, btw...in every gear except 4th and 5th I hit 9lbs. When I am in 4th and 5th it wants to drop down to around 8 and hold. So I am thinking that maybe your JRSC does the same...find out b/c I am no expert on S/c's. If you were only running ~7 lbs thats pretty good #'s. Althought you do get me out the box by 10hp and 20 ft lb of torqe...stock to stock...considering that, I think I did ok.... 8)

i have not seen any ems...for less than like 1050 or so on ebay...im meeting steve colletti thursday evening so he can buy that cx motor from me....i did not break 80mph so it was in no way illegal racing or speeding for that matter...i was getting passed by semis coming home....i hit almost 7 lbs in every gear, around 6 in 4th and 5th....and i have a vaccum hose w/ a leak in it, i found today....dont know if that hurt me anywhere or maybe thats why my boost is not very steady? between here and the dyno, or when it even happened...steve said he thought i had a vaccum leak, but they never said if they found one...
coming home i did not take it above 6.5 rpm's..only once and that was after zanesville..thought she had enough, with steve pegging my rev limiter about 20 t imes lol.
and you should pull really hard on me, if I am only hitting 6.5 rpm's...no where near redline....and down shifting to 4th then to 3rd....i am afraid to drive it hard...just because i was the night the coolant hose broke....i will go redline at the track...but still after 1500 in work w/ head price all that...still a little afraid

We need to hit up the track one last time before winter. See what happens. I am hoping since it will be ALOT cooler and I am tuned, I should be in the 8's.
I think we will be pretty even...good to have some competition.... 8)

Notice the flat torque curve. Also they tried to change vtec and see if it made extra power, it didn't so they left it alone. I was also dropping off on the top end which they fixed.
My a/f looks lean when in fact it is close to normal. I was reading more lean b/c of the exhuast leak confusing the wideband.....
The red line is always the last run....

Good numbers for both of the cars. I didnt think that the torque of the civic would come close to that of the tegs, but the were identical on they dyno. Sux your intercooler didnt come into play, Im sure you would have broken 200 easily. Very nice tq numbers for being turbo.
I hope my new project comes close to the HP and tq(crossing fingers)of those cars. It doesnt have to be the same or more because mine weighs probably around 500lbs less, if not more
Its just good to see nice looking clean fast cars around these neck of the woods that are actually tuned properly.

Thanks. I wish I would have got my butt in gear long before this and had it tuned. Seems like a turbo car is never finished. Its running alot stronger throughout the entire powerband which is nice. Just hope is lasts...lol..... 8)
