...You need to make an offer on one of those '03's he has sitting on the lot @ Mullen Motors...the sales guy sux ballz trying to sell them but the cars are awsome...they still have a red one and a silver one...and they both could prob. be talked WAY down due to the fact they are 2 year old new cars  But if you go down to look or buy one give me a call...i wanna go... :D

Why do they have power windows up front, but crank up's in the back? Theyre not a bad car as far as performance goes, but personally I think theyre built rather cheap. Especially for the price you pay for one..

Can you give us a more detailed view on the car.

How did it feel?

Strong engine?

Handling?

Fit and finish?

I still haven't got around to trying one out but have been interested ever since they came out...just outta curiousity.

Thanks!

it was strong........but the wrx I drove was much stronger or seemed to be IMO.....it was hitting around 16 lbs of boost....salesman said they are rated at 18 I believe....3rd gear was very strong....redline was 6500...very tight steering/handling....not worth the 21000 tag on it....but they go used for around 15-16000...then it would be worth it...but made very cheap....interior...power up front, crank windows in the rear...not much room in the rear....awesome seats though....shifter was kind of weird....strong clutch...looked like a base neon on the inside, with a cheap a@@ stereo system, sounded like crap...

i would not pay more than 15000 for the car.....and i would take the wrx, which i think I will be buying....over it anyday

Interesting. I'm biased...I have never driven a SRT....I like WRX's:)
I'll say that the WRX will be more driver friendly in all-weather, lots of fun, easily moddable (wasn't that way some yrs ago..), well built, strong chassis, nothing fancy, but definately gets the job done whether its going fast or driving thru a blizzard (fast :) )

Let us knw what you get. (make a new topic about it)

Good luck!

I have heard that Wrx's aren't as awd launch friendly....?

Nicknamed glass box's. More so than Dsm or Evo's.... 8)

True. However, many of the stories you hear from ppl that have problems with their WRX tranny's is because they think it should launch like a 2WD car like they had before.

Example:

Launch a 2WD car: high revs, get some wheelspin (not too much), get the 1-2 shift down fast. (this will vary with RWD and FWD)

Launch AWD car: medium rev's, sidestep the clutch (no dump), get the 1-2 shift.

The WRX can only take so many high rev launches before things start going wrong. If you want to do burnouts, get a 2WD car. I gave up doing burnouts and "exciting" launches 8 yrs ago before I bought my RS. The WRX is just not a great drag car....it was built for other purposes :)

I launch my STi fairly friendly (at the AutoX) yet gives good results. Usually 3,000 rpm, ease the gas/sidestep, floor the throttle once clutch engagement is done and you rocket off quickly.

I've done 2 lapping weekends, and 8-9 Autox's in my STi. (20,000 miles city/highway miles). Clutch doesn't feel like new, but still very good.
FYI, I have never done a redline clutch dump...just something one shouldn't do.

The auto journalists that put down the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times launch more aggressively (higher rpm) but from what I read they don't do redline dumps as it doesn't really improve their time.

Ciao

I thought it launched ok ...I took off in it around 3 rpm...shifted at redline in 2nd....going thru 2nd and into 3rd the car really made some power....and everyone says....lightly modded the wrx is a very fast car....i took it out on a backroad and took turns and corners at like 50mph...turns i would take in my integra at about 35mph

you are familiar with the subaru's---what are some of the easy mods to do to get more power quickly?

Usually, many ppl go the exhaust route since this will open up the flow a bit. The WRX has 3 cats from (STi too , I believe) and getting a free-flowing exhaust whether keeping all or some of the cats will definately help.
movFast member "Swallace" just sold his WRX that had a Cobb Stage 2 kit on it. It sounded great at Mid-Ohio and from what Swallace said, he was able to keep up with with Robbie's EVO on some back roads in WV...as well as he did very well at Mid-Ohio.
See here for vids: http://www.skuttle.com/racing.html

Mods I'd do: tires, exhaust, brakes, suspension. The stock WRX comes with some crappy RE92 tires which are great for all-weather but lousy for handling. (Ask Kurt WRX for his opinions!) I had the same tires on my RS and once I changed to Yokos it was a 100% change for the better. (later I moded my suspension to a UK Prodrive tarmac setup...out handled and embarassed many many "fast" cars)

http://www.nasioc.com is a great source for tons of modded information. Read as much as you can.

Brakes..stock is ok, but if you are going to be doing suspension mods and power mods then brakes are a must do.

Power: Guys have been putting on larger turbos (with the needed injectors and fuel pump etc..) and getting some really impressive numbers at the dyno. Engine management like the Eutec or Cobb kit would be really nice and definately helps on the tuning part.
cobbtuning.com

Suspension: Coilovers if you really serious. However different springs will make a huge difference. (stocks come with fairly soft spring for all-weather usage) Kurt just put STi spring in his WRX...made a big difference. (I'll sell you mine:) )

I have kept my car completely stock for a few reasons. I like racing in A-stock class in AutoX. Won 8 outta 8 races. (ok, competition was slim  )
I decided to build a home theater this year instead of going crazy modding my car. Next year I plan to change classes and have some more fun with my car:)
(hmmm, maybe we shoulda started a new topic...kinda strayed a bit here)

Any questons, shoot away! (let's start a new topic thou:0)

You really thought that the WRX seemed faster than the SRT-4?

I guess if it was me, I'd take the srt-4 any day or night over the WRX, butt everyone has things they like to look at.

I prefer the bullet-proof bottom end (known to handle 400hp+ on stock rods).
Although it is wrong wheel drive, the new ones have LSD. I've never had a problem in the MOV with only having FWD during the winter.
Who cares if the rear windows aren't power...less weight, plus I won't ever be back there!
Someone complained about the stock stereo...to me I could care less/it'd be the first thing to go even if it was a damn Mercedes.
Most comfortable factory seats I've ever sat in, (this is all based on opinion of course) even more so than the "factory" Recaros of alternative vehicles.

I'm sure I could keep going, butt to be honest I'm not even sure why I posted this??!?!? So I'm going to watch Monster Garage now. 8)

I need to drive both before I have an opinion....but I am with Justin...those srt-4 seats really surprised me...... 8)

it hold no resale value, the guy tried to tell me it did, there are some people/car lots selling them as cheap as 14000 for an 03 with like 11000 miles....and its poorly designed on the interior/except for the seats....

I am in agreement that seats in the srt-4 are awesome. i would lean towards the srt-4 also, because i have driven a wrx, and it really didn't impress me. i am sure after you open the exhaust up a bit, the car woul be much faster though. I have never driven an srt-4, but it's not JUST a neaon.
