Edited by SiAdam: The worst news ever. Ben decided to drive the Dsm to work and then to check on some parts we needed. He was @ work when he walked out and noticed someone had backed into his front fender causing his drivers side door only to open a couple of inches. We turn from a garage into a body shop....This talon is going to run, if I have to sell my car to do so.... 8)

Updated:6.6.04.
Edited by SiAdam: Long story short we narrowed it down to the coil. Cylinders 2,3 sparks are strong. 1 is weak and 4 is almost non-exsistent. The plugs and wires are brand new, and the Ecu was out of a running car.

Updated:6.5.04.
Edited by SiAdam: So, fast forward to the present. Sat night (sunday morn) @ 3:00 am, Justin, Jeremy, I came to my house to work on the beast. We first looked @ the timing. It was spot on. then we went over the vacuum lines, again and again. A few things were questable, but we proceeded. Next thing we know its almost 9:00 am, little did we know but we pulled an all nighter on someone elses car...lol! So we took it around the block....guess what....it still fell flat on its face..... ?? So tonight around 7-8, Justin, Jeremy, Tim, me and Ben, are gonna try one last time to get this creature to stir.....Wish us luck...well keep updated... 8)

VERY LONG STORY AHEAD READ AT YOU OWN RISK

jchouse and i made a long trip this witer to purchase a 91 talon i found on autotrader. It was a sweetheart deal. body in ok shape, interior decent, new head and only 108k. I paid 3250 for the car. Got it home and it ran awesome. Car had a 2.5 inch turbo back exhaust with test pipe, through the stock muffler. as soon as i got it home i yanked off the air box and replaced with a k&n air filter. Also upped the boost to 15 pounds and hooked up the previously installed vdo boost gauge. car ran awesome..........for two days. One night i was going to walmart. went out and started the car, idled fine. pulled out of my apartment and took it to 3500, still feeling really good and i saw 4-5 psi register on the gauge. shift into second and decide to give it a little more gas. 4500 rpms come up when the car just feels like it hit a wall. it stuttered then picked up again then did it again. i immediately turned around and parked the car for the night, and went inside to look up any info on the net that i could find. i got a diagram of the vaccum lines and went outside in 10 degree weather and checked everything. looked perfect. so i turned the boost down to 11 psi. took the car out and it did the same thing. so lets fast forward to present time. as o right now the car will spin to 5000 before fuel cut, but starts to do it's thing around 4700. i have put some much money into this car that i could have bought and swapped a hatch already, and maybe even turbod it. as of right now the last thing i did was order an E-PROM ecu with a custom chip from dsmchips.com. I left work a little early because i was eager to get the ecu and put it in the car and prayed that it would cure it all. so i got the old ecu out and put the new in. turned the key.........and nothing. the battery had died!!!!! Ok so no problem run down to autozone and pick a new battery. get in the car and turn the key. it won't start. the motor will turn over, but it won't start!!!!!!!!! plug in the old ecu and it starts right up and idles fine.

If ne one has any helpfull hints or ideas please contact me if not the car will be up for sale soon as i don't want to put any more money into it.

sorry for the length....

Lets see...what makes an engine function.

Fuel.
Spark.
Air.
Timing.

Voila...

I would check all the essentials:

Fuel Pump & Filter/Regulator.
Plugs/Wires/Coil.
Air - Given.
Check your stock timing....could be off.

Put all the stock parts back on...nothing that doesn't belong. Start from there. Make it run @ stock levels then start adding pieces until you find the culprit... 8)

I posted your problem on another Honda forum I frequent and here is a guys reply...

"Sounds like a boost leak my friend. Tell him to retighten the upper and lower IC pipe clamps, and check his vacuum line connections (especially from his tapped boost gauge source and MBC since he messed around with them). Keep in mind if he is getting boost creep, it will increase the chances he'll hit fuel cut with the stock MAS.

Also tell him to pull off his intake and MAS to check and see if the lower honeycomb on his MAS sensor is removed. There is also a screw in the inside of the MAS you can back out as well to help improve air flow, but it also leans out the A/F a bit. If the screw or lower honeycomb are tampered with, there is a chance that he could be hitting premature fuel cut."

See if that helps.... 8)

Another Reply.....

The honeycomb is my guess. You can take the upper out and it doesn't usually cause a problem, but the lower causes airflow to get all goofy and stuff. Dsm's are an odd bunch...little itty bitty things make a huge difference, whether it be good or bad. I thought I knew cars until I bought my DSM...

Any luck yet? 8)

doesn't really matter now, since you can't open the driver side door, oh by the way LOL
