This is a video of the cars parading down the hill. There are some cars that weren't in these parades that did do a few runs. I will put their runs in the final video, but it may be a bit big to put online. The red Camaro had the fastest time of 83.127, followed by the Ram with 84.01. The WRX with a 2.5L block got 6th. He even beat the Corvette that you'll see, which is in GT-1 class, I believe, and was one of the most amazing cars there. You may think this is a boring video, but it gets me giddy everytime I watch it. The most amazing part of the whole weekend was being able to hear most of the cars from start to finish (1.75 mi.) echoing through the mountains. Absolutely beautiful. :driving:
It's like 40MB, but it's 720x480, so that's not too big of a file.

Thanks Davis. That was the most text I have ever thought about putting in a video lol. This year we had to stay in the designated spectator areas, but we have already been told we can have press passes for any NASA Southeast events, so next year's videos will be better. Don't take that the wrong way, though, because this year's videos are gonna be great whne I get them edited. Right now, they are all mixed up. What I want to do is take all of the different views I have and put them together to at least resemble a full run for each car. I wi ll also have a highlights video with 1 mustang spinout, 1 spinout of the red Camaro that won, a few slides through corners, and some other stuff. When the guy driving the mustang hit the mountain, he showed us the video when he got to the top of the mountain, and I filmed the LCD screen, so you get to see some in-car footage of his wreck. We also have in-car footage of the 75 camaro, which ran a 97.809. That's pretty sweet.
For lots of good pics from the event that might arouse the common man, go here: http://www.nasa-southeast.com/2004Sep04/pics.shtml They were all taken by the same guy that sent us his in-car footage.

In-car footage of the hillclimb and close "spectator views" will look sweet! Yummmy!

Yeah, I think you'll like it. That's what we're going to do (make DVD's) because all of the guys want copies. The pics I sent a link to came on a CD and he was charging $20 a copy for them! He sent them to us for free, though. The CD has 232 high res pics on it. I really appreciate the notion of helping, though. Most people don't realize it, but this is all very time consuming. Case in point: My fiancee is the assistant director of a summer arts camp at WV State University, and I had to make DVD's of each of the three camp's performances. The performances ranged from an hour to 2 hours, and I didn't have firewire yet, so it took FOR EV ER. Anyways, I got paid $50 for like 23 hours of work. That was BS.

So true. Video edit stuff takes forever.
Funny....I just finished a project for somebody's anniversary..just pictures and music, nice transitions, 10 mins long= $150..but I had 22-24 hrs in it...just didn't work in my favor:)
Just making sure you had a DVD burner (thought you probably would ). Good part is that DVD burners are now under $100 and can burn 4-10X speed!! (mine is like a 2.4X..ugh slow)
take it easy

lol...we just bought a $1100 Vaio, and it has a 2X. You can get an 8X for $40 after mail-in rebates. Technology is so lame. :? :(
