View Full Version : T56
Welp, got a T56 6spd Tremec for the mustang now.. so that will take care of the tranny problem. Got motorsport springs installed, with new quadra shocks an struts. So what will be the next weak link I have to deal with by way of breaking..

2 things?
1. Is the t56 what comes on LS1's stock? cause Ben went through like 2 or 3 of those if I remember right?
2. I thought you sold the mustang?
sold 1 mustang, still have 2 i drive
only reason ppl go thru stock T56's is cause they dont know how to shift
sorry, but that's the real and only reason
look at the specs on them, and look at all my friends who have had them
Josh Nester was pushin a blown LS1 thru his stock tranny for a while
and no.. it's not a stock T56

t56, unless it is built with Viper forks and uprgraded syncros= junk
And people who don't know how to drive them? it's people who beat on the car. When i bought the car at 20,000 miles used, the tranny was already starting to grind. i don't care if you have never driven a manual before and don't know what a clutch is, you don't lose a tranny at 20,000 miles. if you beat on these transmissions they will break. and i don't care about about a blown ls1 running through it, that car never ran good anyways. Randy(don't know his last name), had an lt1 with nitrous and at the strip, he beat josh. Hell after i had all of the little bolt ons that i had, and gears i ran dead heat with an lt1 with nitrous.(vouch for this is Narfdanarf, aka Justin)
T56 is good with uprgraded internals, but stock, you will break them if you put any type of strain on them. I am glad that you have decided to have yours upgraded so you don' have to go through the down time of not having a tranny. :D
The downtime isnt what annoys me.. it's the taking it in/out an blowing wads of cash every time that gets old.. At least with a 6spd I can run 4:10's an stil run on the interstate if I needed to. Buddy of mine has a Z 6spd/4:10's an it seems to be about a perfect setup.. so with mine bein built, and on a bottle it should work out well.

Yeah I agree, with it being built I'd say your good to go...btw what Mustang is this, I can't keep track of all your guy's cars.
Maybe you could throw up some pics/setup and what not if you have some time, I've always loved mustangs ever since I was like 12, and rode in my first fox.

i have heard that the t-56 is a good tranny as long as you dont bang gears on a daily basis(good thing you upgraded yours Jay).lol

yeah no doubt, I want to see this car of Jay's sometime...I'll be coming in this week sometime Wednesday evening for fall break. We(movFast) should get together and talk Mustangs sometime
me bang gears? psh.. you must have me confused with someone else! :D I did buy a new addition to my pony yesterday tho.. 390 big block. needs rebuilt but id do that before i stuffed it in anyway.. 200hp NOS plate kit goin on it too. gona have the heads ported/polished, prob bout a 400+ lift cam, not real sure yet.. ill go to summit an come home broke like i allways do. every time i get close to having it done i buy more stuff for it an tear it back apart.. my maroon one tho, i think im just gona drive it in a river an solve my problems.. I did aquire a 944 Porsche the other day, so theres more problems yet to come im sure..

Ash run a t-56 in that "monster" camero he has, where I get alot of my speed parts from, Delk performance, the sales manger runs a 347 with twin turbo's through a stock t-56. Not to mention 03, 04 Cobra's run that box, and I never hear of anybody losing a 6 speed.
FYI all tremec brand transmissions, 3550 TKO T-56, come with a shifter with stop to prevent bending of the shifter forks
