Its been a while since ive been on here. Ive been busy, but i didnt know wich section to post this so i just chose off-topic. Anyways, im getting rid of the GS. I have about $8k to spend on a car. Im having trouble deciding what i should get. I wanted to get an awd turbo dsm. But ive had enough troubles with mine. I was thinkin maybe a TT 300zx instead. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

lol, you think you had problems with your car! I have not heard good things about them at all. Have you priced parts for one of those before? I seem to remember it being ridiculous for some reason.
Eh.. really theyre like any other car, the only time you have probs is from abuse/neglectment. Breaking stuf isnt what's bad, it's the price of parts that is. Not to mention insurance.. you had better go check cause it's insanely high. If youre dead set on one tho just make sure to check it over really well before you buy it.

Im not sure on the prices but if you want something awd go with like an imprezza or maybe a wrx very nice looking cars... and they seem to run very well 8)

I expected insurance to be high. I was thinkin parts would be expensive. But its worth it IMO. I was also considering an sr20 conversion. The WRX is too expensive for me right now.

well what are you looking for besides all wheel drive? Just balls to the wall speed or are you planning on some auto x with mild drag racing ?

if you check the Nissan forums you can sometimes find sr powered 240s in the virginia area for around 4-5k.
I will do some looking and see what I come up with.
hrm.. have you considered a 2nd gen RX7 Turbo2? The market for that car has finally grew alot, you can buy a ton of stuff for them for fairly reasonable prices. Theyre damn near indestructible, an just plain fast. Not to mention my insurance on one was dirt cheap cause it's onlt a 1.3L even tho it was turbo it cost the same as my n/a GTU did.

You said something about not getting a GSX because of reliability issues, butt you are talking about getting a swapped 240sx? Granted if done properly a swap is painless, butt if a GSX is maintained it is too. Plus a GSX has the potential to slaughter the overweight 300zx and it has the AWD advantage over 240's.
However if there is one thing I've learned, it's to buy the car you are perfectly happy with. With that said, I hope you are happy with whatever you get.
P.S. I'd buy a bike and a little truck or civic hatch for rainy days. 8)
I totally disagree with the slaughter comment.. that's like when ppl say 'well my turbo import will stomp your mustang bla bla' uh, yea that's great.. you have a 4 banger with forced induction, lemme buy a turbo kit an see what happens.
The 300zx tt can reach well over the 400hp mark with a cold air intake, exhaust, and computer. That's not bad with just a few bolt-on parts. If you wana go into the fuel system, upgrading turbo's, engine internals ect. then you can go well above that. Plus the 'ooh ahh' factor of seeing a sweet 300 is way higher than seein a GSX.
I do however agree 110% on gettin a bike.. once you get a bike it really doesnt matter what kinda car yoo have, cause you only drive it when it rains or its cold.

well actually i wanted to get a cbr 900 off of someone i know. But my mom doenst want me to kill myself. Wich i can see that beacuse im still young. My dream car has been a GSX, but ive just been around my best friends evo and sti for a while, and when we meet in dayton and columbus i just cant compare a gsx. So witht ahtt ive wanted a little more power. If i cant seem to set my mind of anything then ill go with a gsx. Im just trying to look for something better to begin with. As it goes, with money, i can make a gsx faster than any one i mentioned, but thats with money and time. With someone mentioning the rx-7...how much do they run? I love rx-7s but pictured them out of my range. So any more suggestion would be great. Thanks :D

I'd say that a GSX is your closest bet to similar fashion/quality, well not really butt more so than a 240sx or a 300zx. lol nissan hater. How are you going to find something that compares to a EVO or STI with 8k? Maybe a bike butt like you said mommy doesn't want to see you get one.

A 240sx is an incredible car. There is so much that you can do with them. A SR20 with minimal boltons has the ability to hit 12.80s quarter mile and with some suspension tuning is an excellent track car.
Keep in mind a 240sx has damn near 50/50 weight ratio, and the sr20 only adds like 5-10 pounds in the front. It has independent suspension and is rear wheel drive.
If you would like any more info about these cars I will be able to help you out.

he he, you are fanboi'ing the wrong cars, but thats just an opinion, I'm a big nissan fan, but, I like most cars, muscle, sport compact, jap super cars, the best advice I can give you Uber, is sit in, drive, and be around the cars you are thinking about, find the one that fits you best.

I agree with all the above said posts, butt he wants something for 8k that has the shock/awe that's cool factor of a newer car and his example was a sr20 powered 240sx or a 300zx, both of which would be compared to a STI or EVO??? If you can find a car for 8k that compares to a STI or EVO let me know, I'll buy 5. I suggested the GSX cause it does relatively compare to the EVO....AWD, turbo, easily modded, bulletproof bottom end, timeless styling (not just my opinion) They made them all the way to 1999. and the interior isn't too bad (I've seen worse)
