For subs I need something shallow. There's not much room behind the rear seat for a box.. I can get a pre-fab box which has 0.5 cubic ft on each side to run a dual sub setup, or 1 cubic ft for 1 sub.

I am still doing some research in the shallow sub department, but I have found these..

http://stereointegrity.com/bm.php
» FEA optimized XBL^2™ motor
» Dual 4 Ohm voice coil configuration
» 500 watt power handling
» 2.5” copper voice coil wound on an aluminum former
» Inverted foam surround
» Honeycomb composite cone
» Shallow mount design (3.5”)
» Tiny enclosure requirements
» Lightweight design

Recommended enclosures:
» 0.5 cubic feet sealed
» Recommended power range: 200-500 watts RMS.

Now amp.. I have not yet chosen one lol.

Nice so far man, sounds similar to the issues I've had with the Z, no space whatsoever for a sub. Def wanna see some pics after you get everything in place.

Yea the rear seat is limited on space thats for sure.
JL makes a sub that goes inside of the console, but I forsee that causing all kinds of rattling issues if anything is in it. Also it eliminates all of your storage.

A buddy of mine has 2 shallow JL's behind his rear seat and tho it does sound good, it just is not loud enough IMO.

So I am researching some subs..

I could get away with a traditional sub as long as it was not too deep, but I need something that works well in very little airspace.

The one cool thing here is the truck comes stock with 2 huge ass batteries and a big ass alternator.
Power supply-wise all I am going to do is a cap.

Couple of options, either a JL Stealthbox, Open air sub, or one of the self contained amp sub units. The Stealthbox is probably the best bet, and I've seen a couple guys say that you can get the box custom tuned to whatever sub you want, thus making more volume or more boom. The open air subs aren't going to hit as hard but you can get good quality or high volume out of them. And the Self contained subs are a last resort, not great at anything, but, cheap and easy to install.

I am not even close to impressed w/what JL has to offer for my truck.
Heard them all and none of them are very loud.

For instance a JL may outperform ohh a solobaric at lets say 200w. But push it to the limits of 400x+ which is beyond what the shallow jl can handle, and it is way louder ect.

So even if I go with a less effecient sub, if i run 2x or more power to it, it will eprform.

Eh, I wouldn't run the JL subs in the box, just for the box itself. Some of the older JL stuff I liked, but, lately haven't been super impressed.

Ok, I get what you are saying now.. i kinda mis-read.

I found a nice box for my truck. Im pretty limited anyhow on box design/space.

My current amps are both old school PPI. the one running my high end and the one running my sub.
I took my sub out because I just did not care for the way it sounded..

I picked up a new Memphis class-D amp which produces 1000w RMS at 1ohm.
At 2ohms it produces 600w RMS
(I figure "real world power" being a bit less than what is stated but who knows..)

Picked up two 13tw5 13.5" JL Audio subs.
Each sub is 3ohm which is odd.. but running them in parallel will show
the amp 1.5 ohms, which I guesstimate will turn out 800w RMS if you
consider the diference in ohm & output.

I don't know anything about Memphis, but read some good reviews on them
by way of performance vs. price.

Running these subs in series (6ohm load) to my PPI bridged mono does not sound too bad, but just not enough power to push them. I hope to get the new amp hooked up tomorrow..

You get the amps online?? are you using a built in crossover or ext??? I think a good crossover makes a world of difference too.

Built in for the highs and sub out from the head unit.
I agree though, I think I need a crossover.

Im thinking of picking up some q-logic kick panels too.. cause the factory speaker locations are less than ideal and im just not getting the sound I want.

Yes, it's in an F350

So far im just running 1 sub because I have my amps mounted behind the seat too, but that will change..
It was a quick afternoon/night install.

I need to make a rack for under the seat ect. ect.

The amp runs cooler than I ever imagined. Even when youre really beating on it.

It sounds good thus far but I still need to order those q-logic panels

So is that like most crew cabs??You have a crew right? The back seat folds up for storage? How much room is there?

Yea, Crew/4dr
Actually there is quite a bit of room under the back seats. Some ppl even put their sub(s) under it. There is a "working tray" that's powdercoated steel that folds out from under it that has to be removed.

I am thinking about getting a new head unit though for the simple fact of I cant change the background/wallpaper on this one..
