Saturday night update:
Race is on for tomorrow. Its will probably be COLD. The high tomorrow is supposed to be 60 and a low around 40. Earlier this year, I found out that standing in a parking lot, at 35 degrees with heavy wind chill is not so much fun. Bring jackets!
I'll have 2 foldout chairs with me and anybody can use. (I won't be sitting much, running around with video gear and working etc..)
Leaving Kmart at 8:00am! If anybody needs a wake up call, say something and leave ph#.
I have a seat open in case anybody wants it. (bro-in-law can't make it)
Ciao

(Sunday Oct.17th is race day)
Should hopefully be enough time so everyone that can make it will. It would be great to have a bunch of movFast ppl going.
AutoX will race no matter what the weather conditions are like. Snow, rain, hail whatever.. (unlike Drag racing and NASCAR)
To review...
We meet at the Rest Stop just south of Mineral Wells at 8:20. We LEAVE to go to the AutoX (Belle, WV) at 8:30. Please be on time. We use channel 5-5 to talk the whole way down and back. FYI, we are usually back in the PKB area at around 6:30-7.
If you want to watch but not race, let us know as we probably have a seat or 2 open.
If you have never seen an AutoX, its alot of fun to watch and even more fun to race in. It doesn't matter what type of car you have. In autoX, you will learn more about what you and your car can and can't do.... more than any other type of driving excerise or race. There are numerous beginners at every event. Its the safest (but not easiest) type of racing, and helmets are required. They have loner helmets at the course in case you need one.
Anyways, if you plan on going please post so we can get a headcount.
Here is the official schedule from the Autox chapter: http://www.swvrscca.org/schedule.html
I'm in.

I'll be there, but I always chicken out on the racing part. I can't afford to break anything.

I will be there. The M3 should be fixed and ready to roll.
I will also have a few other people with me that are taking their cars to race. I will also have some people going with me to watch.

To anyone who is considering not going to the autox.......trust me there is nothing better you can do on a sunday. This is the best car event you can go to that is close to home. Its about 1 1/2 hour drive there (depending where you live) and its worth ever minute of it. You learn alot about cars and get to see some really good racing(especially robbie, who better win everything this time).

Let's say the Marietta meeting spot is the Kmart parking lot.

Great!
As far as weather....
thr, fri, sat all have showers forecasted.
Sunday is supposedly clear.
Then monday has showers again.
Amazing if it works out that way...However, I won't be too dissapointed if it rains a little

What do you have to do to participate in the Auto-X tomorrow?
Can I drive my supra down, register & race? Is there a fee? What do I need to have? Yes I've read the Auto-X for newbs, however I don't think it was clearly/bluntly stated.
I'm thinking of taking my supra & going with the rest of you guys... but whether I race or not depends on the registration cost.
ALSO:
DIRECTIONS? Anyone have some? 8.00am is awfully early for a night-owl like me.... But I'll see about getting up that early & making it down to K-mart.
Who-ever's doing wakeup calls, gimme a call 740-516-1283 I'm setting my alarm for like 7am.
Also an additional question.
If you race can you race with a vid cam strapped in? I have a VHS-C setup already mounted on a tripod, which is very securely mounted in the back seat.

I see that registering for the SCCA costs @ LEAST 30.00 for the Speed Freakz memebership if that is the minimum you can get, if not that I think it's 55 or 70. I'm not paying that.... not right now. I don't have the money esp just to race around a parking lot with cones.
I'm not denegrating the event, or the act of participating. I realize it's a lot of fun to do, and it's something I do want to do, however when it all boils down it really is just racing around cones. Yes it requires skill and good technique to achieve good times and properly handle your vehicle. But I'm just too poor @ the moment.

20 to register

5 back if you give the numbers back
