post whoring becomming a problem?

I have never been on a forums where the mods get frustrated because peoples post counts are being raised too easily and decide to "trim" the thread. Some kid could've come here and wanted to kill some time and read through like 60 pages of "vs." battles. Oh well, I guess just trim this post out.

If someone is THAT easily offended then they shouldnt subject theirselves to the internet, cause odds are they are gona find something that offends them as soon as they open their brownser's homepage which is more than likely msn, yahoo, ect. I havent seen anything overly 'derrogatory' twards women, nor do I see the big deal with 'overposting' which is actually 'spam' if you want to get technical.. it's everyone going to a forum which is mainly serious an bein able to just kinda joke around a bit.

I see post count as a way of seeing who productivly participates in the "on topic" forums. These "vs" type of posts are not productive. This software does not allow me to remove OT posts from post-counts. I wish it did(then I just might leave it be).

The "lynching" comment was deleted with the rest of the trimming.

... and yes, I like to think of movFast.com as being on a slightly higher level than the average forums...

participation is participation no matter how you look at it.. be it cars or whatever. As dumb as it may sound this thread opened up ppl's minds an you learned more about the actual person an what they think about.

If it's that important just lock the thread.. instead of trimmin/deleting an making up new rules as you go :P

Most forums that I have been on/am currently a member of (whose sysadmins and mods were not a bunch of morons) did a lot of "trimming the fat" if you will. Postwhoring is most generally not appreciated on a topic specific forum. That is why many of today's PHP based forums have user "jails" for postwhores. It's a way of teaching someone a lesson without banning them from the site.

Truthfully, I don't see the point in postwhoring. But, regardless of my opinion, this is Robbie's house... he makes the rules.
