If you guys get TLC, I recommend checking out Overhaulin' and Rides on Tuesday nights, 9 and 10pm respectively. Both feature renowned designer, Chip Foose.
The premise for Overhaulin is, they "steal" a car from someone. Actually, a loved one is in on the prank, and allude the owner into believing the car has been stolen. Throughout the show, they have someone pretending to be a detective working on tracking down the case, stringing them along, showing pictures of the car stripped down. They have 7 days to restore/customize the ride, and surprise them with it at the end.
Rides is different. Last week's episode, Chip was redesigning Joe Rogan's (Fear Factor) Hemi, and they took it up to Troy Treppeniar (!!!!!) to do the work.
Both shows are wicked sweet, and I think they're truer to hot rodding than anything else on the air.
