Planning a Track Funday

Nelson Ledges Road Course has fundays when people can take their street cars and run on a closed road course.

The last fundays are scheduled for Nov 5-7. I plan to attend at least one of these days.

Cost is $120 and you will get about 4 hours of track time.

Sounds great but ,make sure it is a safe event. There are many pop-up events now that are very dangerous..not because of the course but because of some drivers who have never been on a course before.

Having an instructor in the passenger seat should be a must. One, it will keep you and others under control, plus you'll get to learn the right way around a course which is not exactly an easy thing to do.
The BMW CCA is a great club and holds great driving events. I've been to a bunch of driving schools but consider BMW CCA HPDE events to be the best. Yes, a little bit $$$, but its much more worth it.

P.S. I'm going to VIR with the BMW CCA club in early Spring:) Wanna come?

They have had fun dayz for years and they go on through out the summerish time.

Next weekend is the last time that they offer the fundays.

I undertstand that it will be a diffrent experience, but they forewarn you of what you are getting yourself into...... So it shouldnt be too bad.


Also I plan to attend as many BMWCCA schools as possible next season.

OR call the Track (440 548-8551) before you head out to confirm that we are running that day. This is important for the schedule, and the weather, can change quickly.



FUNDAYZ are perfect for clubs and groups that want to have a track day without the hassle of setting up rental, insurance and all the other things that go with it.





FUNDAYZ were created for the person that has always wanted to experience the thrill of ³On Track² driving but in a safe, controlled atmosphere. We, here at Nelson, want your experience to be as pleasant as possible so we take all precautions to ensure that:



* ALCOHOL IS NOT PERMITTED.



* Absolutely no aggression/road rage is tolerated. One warning is given then you will be asked to leave the property.



* Track time will be between 20-25 minutes per session. This is for your safety.



* A helmet is required. (Snell approved motorcycle is OK)



* Convertibles must have a roll bar or as with the newer models, reinforced headrests.



* Wear comfortable clothes; long sleeve shirt, long pants and closed toed shoes (no sandals) are required. Again, this is for your safety.



* We do allow a passenger, over the age of 18 and helmeted, in the car with you for the first hour. After that No ³Shotgun rides.² If you are found with a passenger in the car after that, you will be asked to leave the property.



* There is a Drivers meeting prior to the beginning of the day. This is important, so please attend.



* For your safety, it is important to listen and comply with Track Personal.



* Please check your car thoroughly prior to going on the track or have a mechanic do so prior to coming to the Track. Brakes, brake line, hoses, cooling system, tires, power steering system etc. Under Track conditions belts and hoses do break, so do not take a chance on missing the day with a broken part.



* All participants must be over 18 yrs old, carry a valid driver¹s license, and have current auto insurance.



* We reserve the right to refuse service.



COST: (payable by check or cash)

$ 5.00 / crew or spectator



GATES OPEN AT 8AM. TRACK TIME IS 10AM TO 4PM. WITH A ½ HOUR TAKEN FOR A WORKER BREAK.



THERE IS NO PRE-REGISTRATION FOR FUNDAYZ.

FUNDAYZ were created for the amateur sports car enthusiast; low performance cars and club racers. If you are an SCCA driver and you have a car you need to shake down, you are more than welcome to come to a FUNDAY, just be aware who and what will be on the Track with you. Our concern is for the safety of all who participate.

I can't stress it enough...get an instructor when you go to a track.
(also, completely gut your car of any loose items...its much different than AutoX.)
