Hmmm.....How do you think eminem makes millions? It's not even good. It's stupid and pointless. I could make rhymes with fuck and shit in it and put my name on it and sell it.
eminem makes millions cause hes real.. he talks about everything that pisses everyone of us off. but not only does he rhyme bout stuff we can relate to he puts a humorous twist on it.. granted alot of ppl can do the same, but alot of ppl can drive a car around a round track just as good an #8 jr. ~ you just gota get your break..

I respect that opinion. I just don't feel that it takes too much talent to do what he does now. I had a discussion with someone about this tonight and I think if he didn't do his stupid stuff I would probably like him. It's just the popular crap that makes me lose respect because I can't relate to stupid humor like that. Ha ha ha....But I will say the boy DOES have some talent
well i will admit hes gotten kinda soft compared to his 1st album.. that was raw man, it was no punches pulled this is me b00m buy it or dont i dont care. his newer stuff kept gettin more pop to what it is now.. he stil spits lyrics bout what he thinks but it isnt as hard as it used to be. i stil gota respect the guy tho.. alot of the things he rips on i can relate to, his babys momma bein an idiot, ect. plus i just like his 'i dont care' style..

I don't support music artists period. I think its absolutly crazy in the world we live in today, that men and women can fight outside our borders with the risk of dying and get paid peanuts compared to someone singing....Along the same lines, a sports star getting paid in the millions to play a game which he already loves when there are nurses working 12 hr shifts in our hospitals saving lives barely getting by.
Crazy mixed up world we live in.....

I think you are missing the point. I was drawing a comparison between the two. I find it odd that someone can sing and get paid millions upon millions of dollars while another individual has the possibility of being shot and killed and gets far less...

You're a jackass. As I said before, you kill me. Most of those people probably came from a lower class family and didn't have the opportunity to get all of their shit paid for. I'm sure that means nothing to you. I hope they reinstate the draft only to get one person, that being you.

This is totally true most people join for future schooling help and financial reasons but they also know they have the possability of going to a war zone. Hey at least they had a choice of joining the Armed Forces some countries force them into a tour of duty.

Who knows wtf he was talking about, he doesn't speak in coherent sentences, or read complete posts before his, so he is clueless. Everything I have, I worked for, and I did it doing something I want to do. As far as what kind of job I have, it is none...currently there is no job that I've found that makes me happy both financially, and emotionally. This is why I am at college, learning how to do something that satisfies both of my needs. Anyone can go to college too, I am dirt poor, I have bad credit, yet I can get $25000/year to go to college. It's stupid the amount of money/loans you can get as a student, butt if that's what it takes, it's what I'm going to do.
As far as drafting me, if I'm drafted, I will happily fight for my country. Though I wouldn't need to, I wouldn't make near as much as I normally would butt I'd still make 55k/year and I'd being doing what I want (working on people). However, being how I'm in school, I won't be drafted, and being how this is 2004 there is not going to be a damned draft.
On a side note, I've always wanted to join the Armed Forces. However, they just don't pay enough for me.

Oh, I also forgot that I think that everyone get's about what they deserve, as far as money goes. Actors/Singers/Sports players make a lot of money, they deserve what they get. They entertain us. They make us happy. They get paid a lot. IMHO there is no price for happyness.
for example: I hate brittany spears, butt she is worth about $32 million bucks. She makes millions of people happy, and I am sure that each of her fans would donate a little over a dollar for her. A nurse or a doctor really doesn't save lives. Large companies do research, they make drugs and write scientific papers on their discoveries. The scientific papers in turn are read by the doctors. The doctors declare a patient's illness, and prescribe a treatment. The nurse makes sure that the treatment happens the way it should. Pfizer, the drug company is worth 277 billion dollars. They save lives. They get paid more than the dollar per person that they save.
I hope my thoughts make sense, I'm kinda tired/had school all day/worn out.

So what, they wad these research papers up and use them to plug bullet holes? They have enchanted scalpels that float around and cut into critical organs with precision. Please....
And I can't even imagine where you could logically conceive that entertainers are worth what they get, when we have men and women in the military, firefighters, law enforcement, and teachers that struggle to get by on their salaries.

I'm sure if he offered them some money, they would gladly take it and fix him up. How much money? Thats dictated by the supply of medical care and the demand for the type of care. If he cut his leg open, there are MANY capable doctors that would gladly take his money to sew him up.
For all the M&Ms out there there are MANY failed rappers. However it is relatively easy to become a doctor. Simple supply and demand. Wanna make M&Ms money... become a rapper.
hmm.. Britney Spears is worth how much? not a big fan.. she is hott tho :) ~ if every one of her fans gave her $1 humm.. ok i have an idea, everyone on this site can give me $1 so me an Adam can go to the bar lol
Athletes, Celebrities, ect. I think theyre all overpaid to be quite honest.. Most ppl dont play for the love of the game, its love of the cash. Also why college football seems to me like is more brutal. Those guys are goin out givin 110% to make a name for theirselves in hopes to make it pro.
As far as the going payscale for Athletes/Celebs I would really like to know how it got to the insane ammount it is. But even tho I dont really agree with it, if I were in their shoes I would be lovin it.. so really I cant complain, theyre not doin anything I wouldnt.

you all clearly missed my point....all that nurses/doctors/firefighters/teachers ect. ect. do is what they are taught to do...if you can invent something, whether it's a song or a computer OS, you get paid the big bucks. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to be a doctor, I'll start out at like 90k or so, I'm going to be copying off of what other people have done for a very long time. If there was only 1 of me in the whole world that did what I did, I would expect to make a lot more money. I'm not pioneering anything, I'm just working on people. I'm not really going to be any different than a mechanic. However I will get paid more, cause I can swap internals with the engine running. There is no way in hell I will deserve to make what any celebrity makes.

And I happen to like Eminem. He has produced some good work (not as in the form of a producer, but given us music in the form of a product, I mean produce, as in to Produce the Evidence, to present).
He has a very sharp mind, doesn't really care about who he happens to infurate or insult (which is a good thing, but only if it doesn't go too far, you piss off everyone and suddenly you have no fans). He has a great sense of rhythm and manages to make words rhyme that I didn't think possible.
I like his stuff, however some of it is overly violent for my liking. (lyrics detailing the beating/murdering of people etc).
I'm only going to very LIGHTLY touch the COMPLETELY off-topic-ness this thread has become.
Music today on the radio SUCKS. It sucks because you idiots (not necessarily you the reader on the Movast forum, but the idiots known as the general American public) continue to watch your $hitty MTV, RealTV, Reality TV shows, and $hit like that.
The production & media companies are in bed together banging each other to death while they're strangling each other.
Timeline:
US Govt becomes succeptible to corruption & "Buyout".
Media Comapnies "Donate" to Govt to get the FCC to lift regulations on Media (Radio stations & TV/Cable).
ClearChannel buys out the little guy after bullying out all the competition.
ClearChannel owns 85+% of US Radio Market.
You can now hear Froggy 99 in Mtta/Parkersburg AND about 3 dozen + other cities in the nation... they even have the same Froggy $hit. (vans stickers, logos & crap).
ClearChannel gets greedy, makes deals with Record companies (Sony, BMG, Arista...) to Play music, if they get paid. (Called Payola).
Technically illegal, it still goes on, however the FCC recently brought some "Payola" lawsuits against the record industry/radio station, however the same Media companies have bought out the officials that can sway this type of prosecution.
TADA!!!!
ClearChannel (who owns all your Radio) is in bed with the Record Companies & Media (AOL Time Warner anyone) and is paid to Force Feed you music that the Record Companies Number Crunching Men have decided follows a wonderful preset formula of $shit you liked before, so it must be $hit you'll like again.
3 perfect genre/examples:
Girly Pop Singers: Britney Spears & her ilk.
Boy Pop Bands: N'Sync & THEIR ilk.
Nu-Metal/Rap Metal: Linkin Park... or whoever really blows now.
Internet Radio is the ONLY answer... screw the radiostations... screw the record companies... listen to what you want to.

I say I shall commend you. It's your opinion Joe :) You are entitled to it, and I respect it fully. Different strokes for different folks. It's what makes the world go round and keeps life interesting. If we all liked the same stuff life would get Über boring.
I don't hate ALL rap-metal, just the newer stuff. I'll admit a disdain for the makeup of ICP, however their lyrics are incredibly vulgar (which I find some amusement in, especially in todays PC society), and it's funny.
I myself am big fan of 311 and any other quality artist that produces similar works. I also am a big fan of System of a Down.
==Begin Anti-Slipknot Rant==
However Slipknot can go jump off a bridge for all I care. I've had the misfortune to see them live twice (Ozzfest 2002, & on tour w/ Rammstein during Family Values Tour). They ... friggin... Suck.
11 idiots on stage jumping around, screaming @ the top of their lungs, pounding on $hit for want of a decent tune or rhythm.
Not to mention such QUALITY  lyrics as : People = Shit, and If youre 555 then I'm 666. What morons. They're the same thing as britney for kids that want "heavy metal"
==End Anti-Slipknot Rant==
Music is for everyone, personally it's my life. (As in I live for music & new music). I would warrant I have more music than most anyone on this board. That doesn't make me better @ all, no rather I just have chosen to expose myself to as much new & independant label music (much from overseas UK/Norway/Sweden/Iceland/Germany etc etc).
Radio today is "Ad Supported" as is TV. However Radio is dying due to the stranglehold media & industry have exerted on it. Variety & new stuff is rarely ever good. Same applies to TV.
To fix the problem along comes Satellite TV & Cable, as well as XM / Sirius Radio. One would THINK that since you are PAYING FOR CABLE/ Sat Radio that it would be AD FREE... But nope... too deep a stranglehold and too large an "asset" for the advert companies.
I realize costs must be recouped for establishing distrobution networks, as well as the fact that NO BUSINESS is in business simply to be nice, they're ALL there to make money, so charging fees is ok.
I'm just moaning about the bad taste left in my mouth after paying
$120+ / month for Digital Cable that has all the extra channels, but I still had ads. Crying shame.
I wouldn't mind ads as much if they had some form of feedback on them. A way for the consumer to respond (online maybe) that the ad SUCKS or Rocks respectively. Of course just because you can provide feedback does NOT mean they'll listen.

I don't konw. I know it was originally going to be commercial free.. then they added commercials for a while. They DO Have commercial free stations/channels, however not ALL of them are commercial free. (I understand with talk radio & such, no complaints there, as you're listening to a syndicated broadcast....) I however am not a current subscriber, and haven't a clue.
I do know I'd rather go with Sirius... I like to root for the underdog.

I really think the XM did recently switch to complete commercial free...although not totally sure.
As far as Sirius goes...they have better programming IMO butt their units are just too huge...the smallest currently made one is like the size of a damned cd...and it's hard to put things that big in small cars. Semis you might be able to fit one in...miata methinksnot
