For most people they can drink 2 beers and drive safely my brother and my dad can both have lots more than that and be fine but the law is for those select few that can't handle 2 beers. Sometimes if i go to a nice resturant with my mom and she has one glass of wine then i have to drive home because she can't handle it. So you can be madd at the law but you have to understand why its there. (no offense intended in this post)

I can totally understand your frustration Jay. I mean, I would be upset to, but @ the same time if there is a question that you may be driving home.... don't drink...its honestly as simple as that. If you would happened to be stopped on the way back, why would you want to go through the hassle of being tested for a Dui and possibly being charged with one....not worth it @ all IMHO. No one is holding a gun to your head screaming drink....
Cliff Notes: 1,2,6 beers/etc. If you are going to drive home, don't drink...its that easy.... 8)

Well lets just say we have it better here in WV than it is in Ohio the BAC is lower over there. Basically you cant have one in Ohio. It might be a little excessive but they have to have a line and no matter the line people will push it and abuse it maybe thats why its so low. :?
I agree, if youre drinking an you go drive youre gambling as far as gettin a dui.. But I dont think you should have to worry if you take a girl out on a date, have a beer / 2 /ect. with dinner.. If you get so smashed out of your mind off of 1/2/3/ beers that you are unstable in a car, then you deffinatley shouldnt be drinking period lol
Anyhow.. my .02 on the matter

My friend and I that is a State Trooper were messing around with a breathalizer while drinking one night.
He was pretty buzzing after around 8 beers and still didnt have the BAC to get arrested for DUI. I finally went over the limit on 9 beers, yes 9. (Beast Light)
It all really depends on how your body handles Alchohal. Some people can drink 2 beers and be over the limit, some could drink 9 like me and still be under the limit because their tolerance gets to be so high.
There have been a lot of mandatory stops from coming home after drinking a few and I have never had any problems with getting a DUI. They just flash a light into your eyes and your on your way.
I believe its ok to drink and and drive, just very stupid to drive drunk.
Its not against the law to drive under the legal limit, everyone seems to think after drinking a beer, your screwed.

You can also be convicted of driving under the influence and test below the BAC.

Nah (Ive heard let me get that straight) if you test with a BAC close to the limit and are driving in a way that you are definately impaired they can cite you.

You shouldn't drink and drive period. End of story. I don't care what you say....You are more aware and alert sober. Thats obvious. If you can drink 5 beers and be under the "legal limit" you are still impaired in some way shape or form. You may feel fine, but you would have to agree that it has some affect.
When you put yourself in danger is one thing...but driving on public roads effects me and that Pisses me off. Have some common courtesy for others. 8)

I went to a high performance "Advanced Driving" class in Sweden. We did numerous avoidance and quick reaction drills, classroom sessions, braking excercises etc...
The instructors talked about some studies that the govt. (Swedish govt is rather thorough vs. US agancies) made. 1 medium strong beer (they have various classes but lets say "a Heineiken" for now) WILL impair your driving.
Alcohol is the same chemcial no matter who drinks it, it just differs once its gets into ones system and can be tolerated by some better than others, yet will still impair anybody by a certain percentage.
So the questions goes...would you like to drive on the street knowing that somebody else is more (chemically) impaired than yourself?
Unfortunately, seems that many people like to have some/many/few/bunch/6-pack/case/ of beer yet hardly ever realise the danger of it. Pretty pathetic when you consider how easy it is to call a cab or have a buddy come pick you up from your drinking establishmment.
Of course there is the person who is the worlds best driver and can never be told they've had too many..
"Dude, I'm fine...I only had a few beers, relax..."
Unfortunately cops only get a mere fraction of ppl who drive drunk each day/night.
Some stats:
+In 2002, an estimated 17,419 people died in alcohol–related traffic crashes—an average of one every 30 minutes. These deaths constitute 41 percent of the 42,815 total traffic fatalities.
+About three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives. (50 movFast.com members here.... roughly 16 of us will be involved in a alcohol-related crash...ugh!!!)
+Those drivers 21 to 24 years old were most likely to be intoxicated (BAC of 0.08 g/dl or greater) in fatal crashes in 2003. Thirty-two percent of drivers 21 to 24 years old involved in fatal crashes were intoxicated, followed by ages 25 to 34 (27 percent) and 35 to 44 (24 percent)
+For fatal crashes occurring from midnight to 3:00 a.m., 79 percent involved alcohol
List goes on and on....the answer should be fairly simple...

Im glad that someone is on the same page that i am, because i really hate when people drink and drive because like what adam said you are putting other people in danger.. Because when you drink every thing is slowed down, and it just makes driving more dangerous than it already is.. living where i have lived my whole life i have been around many friends, and people that i know die from dui Wrecks... and i hate to hear that people are still doing it, but what can you do.. :? besides watch the other side of the road like a hawk making sure no1 gets across that line with out knowing about it

I would say in general and most often your thoughts/facts are true davis, butt there are rare instances where it was proven that true alcoholics perform better with some alcohol than being sober. (I'm not saying drunk, mind you) The reasoning behind this is that these severe alcoholics, have done nothing butt drink their whole lives, so it's all they know and they only know how to perform on a semi-intoxicated level. Their bodies have become accustomed to this new level of homeostasis, and so when they are sober, it's almost as if they are drunk, because their bodies are not used to functioning in a more healthier state. These people need to be put in a AA program of some sort of course, butt it is not recommended that they stop cold turkey.

Screw those people....they say alcoholism is a disease....B.S. Cancer is a disease. Nobody makes you drink. Why start? People are stuipd...I would greatly enjoy watching a true drunk go through the shakes and withdraw...I would laugh, b/c you know what...THEY DID IT TO THEMSELVES...F* them. 8)

people on here are so closed minded. I just try and help people to see other possibilities. The average person just sees things in one way answers, when in reality there is a probably a lot of answers to every problem. It's when you can realize this that you'll become successful in life.

Yea i know what it means if you meant that to me, but my point is just because people have their own opinions doesnt make them closed minded, and it doesn't mean they can't open up to new opinions.. people just express their own opinions and some people don't take them to well...
