Ford has jumped into the ring.
Ford/Toyo is sponsoring a 2005 Ford Mustang GT in the US 2005 drift season. The driver is a well known experienced US drifter who's qualified for the top class in Japan (D1).
Oh, did I mention the driver (young guy...like 19 or 20) is being paid 100K a year for this deal?
For such a new sport to the US, I'm suprised how fast the American manufactures are jumping in. You can either love or hate the sport but you can't deny how cool it is too see American cars competing....hopefully it will teach all the dumb drift fanboi's that you don't NEED an AE86 Corolla or Nissan 240sx to compete. I've also heard of a few guys with older Fox bodies competing this year. I would love to see this sport evolve to where we see tons of 3rd gen Camaro's and Fox bodies (or even old Capri's).
