Ford has jumped into the ring.

Ford/Toyo is sponsoring a 2005 Ford Mustang GT in the US 2005 drift season. The driver is a well known experienced US drifter who's qualified for the top class in Japan (D1).

Oh, did I mention the driver (young guy...like 19 or 20) is being paid 100K a year for this deal?

For such a new sport to the US, I'm suprised how fast the American manufactures are jumping in. You can either love or hate the sport but you can't deny how cool it is too see American cars competing....hopefully it will teach all the dumb drift fanboi's that you don't NEED an AE86 Corolla or Nissan 240sx to compete. I've also heard of a few guys with older Fox bodies competing this year. I would love to see this sport evolve to where we see tons of 3rd gen Camaro's and Fox bodies (or even old Capri's).

Here are the pics and the url to the thread...

Is there even a car in that 2nd pic? Dont see it..

I dont think a foxbody would be my 1st choise as a drifter.. they get a lil twitchy takes a while to learn how to drive one. I dono how many times I bout lost it when I was goofing off in the 1st one i had. It's cool to see the look on ppl's faces when you let them pull up besides you after drifting thru the turn by the windmill restaurant tho.. my fav turn in the burg' :D

'that is if i DID that.. no illegal activities here.. just an example of what would happen if you did' 8)

The last AutoX seemed like it turned into a drift event :)

I'm into it....its not a speed thing so much but it does look like fun.

those fanboys in question have been booing Rhys Millen, and probably the Dodge guys, too. This Import vs. Domestic thing is the most homosexual argument I have ever seen. And for all homosexuals, I'm sorry to compare such a lame thing to your lifestyle, but I think you know what I mean.
