Has anyone ever competed in a rallyx event or seen one in person. I was looking through some rally forums, and they had their own rallyx team. I thought it was pretty fun looking. Didn't know if our region had any rallyx's...might be fun to get started. Post up some pics if you have them :D

If you don't know, rallyx is basically layed out the same as autocross only it usually has a mud section, tarmac, gravel and grass. Sounds like a whole lot of fun. buy a $300 dollar beater out of the bulletin board, put some knobby tires on it and go for it :P

Yes and Yes.

I have done a rallycross in my older Subaru RS (had 800 miles on the odometer:) in Kentucky. It was fun but not many people showed up and I was the only AWD car there.

I've been to a bunch of SCCA ProRallys and SuperRallys/RallyCross
Been to Rim of the World (Calif) many times including working on the stages one year. I was also involved with Chavez's Open class Mitisub. Galant when he did the first FIA race in Laughlin Nevada in 1998. Was part of the Pit crew and orgainization. I have a few freinds that still compete in SCCA Pro-Rally. (or whatever its going to be now)

I also saw a bunch of RallyCrosses when I worked and lived at the race course in Sweden. (crazy 600hp Cossie's!!)
Lots of fun to watch but huge money to compete in at that level.

There are some autoX's that SCCA puts together but it really is better to have a beater car car as it can get damaging on a completely stock street car....think proper suspension:)

Yes, rallying is ALOT of fun. Obviously there are many levels of it but to bad there isn't anything really close that we can compete at.

Warning this looks very tempting! Click here for info on snow/ice racing: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=656719

Yeah i agree that an AWD car would be ideal for a FTD...butt of course there is going to be classes for all types so you are a little more evenly pitted against other racers.

Yes, indeed there are FWD and RWD cars and classes. While AWD might be the logical choice in going fast in the slippery stuff, FWD and RWD will usually have a weight advantage.

I had a blast driving my 85hp Volvo 244DL with winter studded Gislaved tires on the road and backroads in Sweden. Slow as heck but sooooooooo much fun to slide the big tank around s-turns ala rally style.
