Well, this is a big video (~60 MB) but it's worth it. This is a pretty crazy fight featuring our friend/neighbor Scott Hayes. He's fighting a Muay Tai kickboxer in Sport Jujitsu, which closely resembles the Ultimate Fighting Championship, minus the punching in the face while you're down, as that's illegal in West Virginia...? I apologize for the language at the end, I got a little excited. This was his first fight. Also, the people who get the video before I have time to go back and fix it and re-upload it will notice that when it shows his wife, it says nothing, but about 5 seconds later it tells her name. Pretend that doesn't happen. Enjoy! Let me know what you think.

Interesting fight. If Hayes is Jujitsu and fighting a Muy Thai, then he shouldn't have had much problems as those 2 displines are fairly different.
I don't really know those rules (perhaps a local rule) but when they got down to grappling, it shouldn't take so long to get a proper hold...I saw a few doors open to some grabs.
Nevertheless, for a first fight he did very well and didn't overfight and stayed patient.
I studied Jujitsu and a little Thai kickboxing some yrs ago. Great stuff to know and can be helpful if you get stuck in a sticky situation. (Luckily, I've never had to do it)
When I went to Bankok Thailand in 1997, one of the must-do things was to see real kickboxing. It was an awesome event. Astonishingly, the kickboxers were between the ages of 14-20 and had surreal stamina, skill and strength. Their shins were like concrete....and kept hacking at each other round after round. (I have some video of it...scary stuff) The environment was incredible too..ppl betting before and during the fight..big business in that country where it is considered a national sport and the fighters are elevated to gothic levels.
Thanks for sharing vid.

yeah, there's always going to be a million missed opportunities for grabs and submissions. I'd say that the main reason would be that even though one part of their body may be open to whatever, they may be trying to initiate their own grab at the same time, meaning that the first person to stop defending long enough to start a grab is the one who's going to get grabbed.

Its definatly not as easy @ one would think. During our Judo classes, we learned alot of throws and many grabs. Its hard enough to get a successful grab, not to mention while your opponents attempting the same, and then to top it all off defend....still fun though.... 8)
